As a Bama fan, I would of course love to win it all for the first time ever.
That said, it's just feels good to finally be back. I was in college when we made the CWS 3 out of 4 years; now it feels like forever ago.
It takes a lot of things going just right to win a CWS, huh?
Texas appearing 38 times with 6 championships and 6 runner ups still seems amazing to me. Many will neg this, but it's an amazing thing nonetheless. This means Texas historically has a 32% chance of being in the final game every other year based on past performance for the last 79 years.
Edit: Here's LSU numbers because I know some LSU guy with no dog in the hunt this year is going to say, "OK, now do LSU".
LSU has been to the CWS 20 times with 8 Championships and one runner up. This means LSU historically has a 45% chance of being in the final game every 4th year based on past performance for the last 79 years.

I'm pulling for Troy, simply for the underdog role but good luck to all teams. Enjoy it.
If we hadn't made it, I'd definitely be pulling for Troy right now.

Seems like the consensus has just been that Volantis is going to hold our offense in check so the real matchup to watch is UGA pitching vs the Texas lineup.
I was at Game 1 in Austin and Volantis was not particularly sharp. Oregon has a very solid lineup but not a Georgia lineup. He definitely got the job done but he just labored; Oregon stranded something like 17 runners. I was just waiting for the top to pop off but Oregon had their own problems and ultimately we held them down.
As you’re probably aware our middle relief has been a coin flip all year.
Anyway Volantis will have to be sharper than he was on Saturday to beat Georgia.
I still can’t believe we have to play y’all first!

We are putting our #2 pitcher in against North Carolina. At least if we were in the other bracket we would know our opponent. Anyone who goes to the losers bracket in the first round has little chance of getting out. North Carolina is a lot like us. Pitching and timely hits. Heck we never even hosted our Regional. Playing with house money. Not supposed to be here.

Yup, using the stats for a typical 4 team regional, winner of first game has an 80% chance of making it to the CWS finals. I guess loser of first game has a 20% to make to the Championship Series.

North Carolina lucked out being on that side of the bracket but I'm not convinced that they come out of it ahead. They have had some very close games and I'm not sure they have the hitting and pitching to handle a good hitting team.

if we lose, we don’t play again until Monday
texas dude already mentioned it but looking at the bracket it looks like whoever loses this game will then have to play on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and thursday going 4-0 to stay alive. Not a very comforting thought.

I'm hoping the Ole Miss bats keep showing up when they need to. We haven't put up a ton of runs in the postseason but when we needed them, we got them. Ole Miss has the pitching to make the finals.

Getting a great uniform matchup tonight. Ole Miss is wearing their reds and UNC is wearing their Carolina blues.

I’ll be glad to see this board not be filled with grown men literally crying actual tears about uniform colors like it’s an episode of Queer Eye for the Coonass Guys
