Sorry, it is depressing to go to NO. It is a step above Shreveport. This will be UGAs 14th visit to NO for the Sugar Bowl dating back to 1947. The city was a cool destination but has turned into a filthy, dirty, crime-ridden cesspool over the past 2 decades. Having good food options is the only thing left remaining of what once made that city a fun destination. Yeah, we’ll come play a game there if forced to by the CFB system, and some will reluctantly take the risk and travel there after researching travel advisorys. But man, it is just such a shithole nowadays that the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Sorry, take out the trash and do better as a city and maybe we will grace your city with some UGA class again. But you have a ton of work to do to earn our patronage again.

Fun fact, it's not "everywhere", it's only where the tourists go.

I don't get the contempt that so many folks have for New Orleans. Its a fricking fun city full of fun shite. Its an amusement park compared to Atlanta where serious people do serious business while in New Orleans they are second lining on Tuesday morning for no reason other than its Tuesday in New Orleans. Not a place one should try to do business but if it is simply drunken debauchery and eating good New Orleans is world class.
I have spent MANY 3 and 4 day weekends in New Orleans and last years Sugar Bowl, even with the terrorist attack, was by far the most enjoyable New Orleans trip I have ever been on. They have all been fun but there is a stark difference in New Orleans...or was last year, between now and, I don't know, 2000 or so. Something is being done correctly in New Orleans. It is still the best managed city in the Caribbean but it is better than it has been. I ain't going this year because I have to be in Portland most likely that week but anyone who does go should have a blast...unless of course they suffer from irrational fears and then they ain't having fun anywhere....

I remember a few Sugar Bowls where on the way out of New Orleans all the signs in front of the bars said thank you Georgia......
The Super Dome is firmly the worst venue in major sport....It is a ghetto.

No way around it, that was sad and embarrassing--also several years ago. This is on historic North Campus near the law school. I know tailgate rules were changed for that part of campus after this incident.

I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to visit New Orleans these days. I used to love going down there—running along the Riverfront and through the Quarter. Even though I’m only about an hour away, I haven’t been in a while. I just don’t have the desire anymore because it feels like a shell of what I remember. I just don’t feel safe in the Quarter, especially at night.

I attended the law school and have tailgated on North Campus/Herty Field for years. Have NEVER seen anything like that. I'm sorry, but some things are just indefensible. Sure we love to tailgate, but we also have pride in our campus--especially the oldest part of campus.
