It’s always bothered me how in the biggest series of the year teams often can’t use their optimal pitching rotation.

I get rewarding the team that sweeps their side of the bracket, but sometimes that doesn’t happen on either side and both teams go to the final with a hand behind their backs.

Take 2017, just because I remember it so well. fandom aside isn’t it a shame neither Lange nor Faedo got to pitch in the finals? This isn’t about being salty; UF earned the title.

Just a few days would make a huge difference and I’d argue produce a truer outcome and better product.

Agree...its a throwback to days when they didn't want to keep teams in hotels in Omaha for too long.

Play the final starting the Monday night after the semi's are over.

Agreed. Let both teams pitch their best players to determine a champion.

It used to be worse.. final game was single elimination regardless of record coming in.

Yeah we probably effed ole miss out of a natty tonight. They got to burn their ace tomorrow. That’s what a good rival does. 4th and 25 all over again.

If they would do this, it would also give a few more days for the fan bases of the actual teams to get plans together and travel to Omaha instead of having 50% neutral fans in the stands. Honestly it would be a plus all the way around

Agreed and that short delay instead of a normal week off makes things like rain delays really change the landscape of the contest.

Don't throw your ace tomorrow. It's not like you are going to get to start your ace in every game like you would your QB in football. Having a deep pitching staff is important and giving more time would temper that. Also it can be more fun to watch games when the pitchers aren't dominating. Nothing wrong with a pitcher's duel, but runs are fun too.

Not to mention OU has two extra days to score tickets to the series.

It's fricking weird. Even if the brackets finish even, the side that goes first will wind up with an extra day of rest.

I agree, and one counter of my argument is that guys like Dyson for y’all get to be the hero. Caleb Gilbert did it for us just to get to the finals; it’s fun to see.

I know it’s hard to want to change anything since y’all won, but had it gone the other way you wouldn’t have thought Faedo should have gotten to pitch?

At least in that series we were both short-handed. It’s a more glaring issue in years like this when one team will be rested and the other could be eliminated without throwing their axe.

Two points here, if Ole Miss dominates they can pull their starter early.

But yes, I can’t stand that the entire year is based on a 3 game rotation and then the playoffs just say frick it.

I mean I don’t think anyone is going to dominate in a slugfest between the two best teams in the best division in baseball.

Whoever wins shouldn’t be punished for running into and beating a great team in their bracket.

The coaches could get together and make an agreement that each gets to pick the others starting pitcher and his first sub. Each must pitch 3 innings. Last 3 is everyman for himself. frick OU.

Respect the tradition of the CWS.

The best teams win in Omaha. There are no fluke winners.

Its always been about pitching depth, not a starter or 2. Half the team is pitchers; make 'em play.

Seems like some AR/OM shite to do. Especially considering our performance in the Jell-o shot competition.

It’s win or go home. You absolutely throw your ace. No questions asked.

We got screwed last year and had to play an extra game more than Vandy. We still won. Had to face their best pitchers. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. Life’s not fair. Get your arse to the championship series and let the chips lie where they land
