Here is a bit of trivia, in case others don’t know… Oklahoma State head coach Kenny Gajewski and Florida head coach Tim Walton were teammates on Oklahoma baseball’s 1994 CWS national championship team.

Add to that Florida assistant Aric Thomas as well. He was a huge part of that 94 run.
I don’t know why people continue to reply to this clown. I’m not even sure he is an OU fan, and if he really is he is an ignorant embarrassment with way to much time on his hands.
Spot on, that advantage of having your weekend rotation setup and rested only lasts 2 games. If you drop one, your looking at your #3 vs somebody’s ace game 1

He left OU willingly and he didn’t last long at Auburn because he was accused of NCAA violations that didn’t turn out to be true.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I played for the guy, and when he left for Auburn he did so because he had burned every bridge possible within the administration. His players couldn’t stand him and neither could boosters. He alienated alumni and he knew the financial investment wasn’t going to be there as long as he was there.

Look at what happened to him after Auburn. He broke rules that every program breaks, but he was hated so they got rid of him. Even with all the winning he did he ended up starting a travel ball team, then moving on to be Moore High School’s head coach, a suburb of OKC and just recently took the head job at DII East Central. Sonny never left anywhere willingly except ORU & you don’t have a fall from grace like that while winning like he did unless you have pissed off literally everyone in the sport.
If they would do this, it would also give a few more days for the fan bases of the actual teams to get plans together and travel to Omaha instead of having 50% neutral fans in the stands. Honestly it would be a plus all the way around

Honestly, for the sake of the entire southern US this thread should be deleted. This isn’t a good look on the education system In Oklahoma or what seems to be the majority of the states in the SEC.

So does A&M, regardless of lead it never feels comfortable against that lineup. With SCHLOSSNAGLE leading the way, future is definitely bright.
Down 5-0 and not even threatening all game at the time the SOLO homerun was hit is absolutely getting your arse kicked when we are talking about pimping HRs that barely clear the fence.
O he absolutely crushed that ball, and I’m not an old scruge type against that stuff. I think the game needs some of the fun entertaining stuff that goes on, and I appreciate the kids having fun. The score is my bigger issue, I haven’t played in 12 years, but I don’t ever remember having a ton of fun while getting my arse kicked.
Pimping a HR that clears the fence by 2 feet, while being down 5 runs is the about as A&M as you can get.
Sandlin, who was the #2 starter until Omaha. Doesn’t have the stuff that Bennet or Horton have, but had a pretty good year. Has been roughed up though last couple of outings

Go with OU next. No way they lose twice.

Don’t you put that bad juju on the Sooners.
I was having this convo just yesterday. I played in the Big 12 in early 2000’s and there were a few guys that would run it up there in the 97-98 MPH range, but for the most part 90-92 was probably the average on any given weekend. Now everybody that steps on the mound seems to being touching 95. Have to wonder if these guns are juiced a couple MPH or if science+technology and training now has really added 3-5 MPH for these guys. I know radar guns measure different than older versions. they now measure velocity closer to the release point, where as it used to be as the ball crossed the plate but what affect that would have on the velocity being measured is way above my pay grade.

But just like has been mentioned multiple times already, if it’s straight, it doesn’t matter how hard your throwing. I’ll take 98 and straight over 88 with big time run all day long.

T. Michael going for 46 pitches is way less than ideal for OU for game 1 with how many runs OU scored. Especially since they used two of their normal starters from conference play.

The normal #2 starter that came in to pitch for OU basically used the game where they had a huge lead to throw a 20-25 pitch bullpen that he would have thrown today anyway. All starters at this level are going to throw a 20-30 pitch pen 2 days before next start.

Saved other arms in the pen, and Michaels threw 91 pitches in the start against Florida in regionals. With a day in between, he will be fine for 30-40 pitches Sunday. Although he won’t be able to do this all tourney long.

Hate to admit it, but the damn Ole Miss powder blues make my britches tight. Love their powder blues.

I second this. Copied the color scheme to a T for my son’s team. I had some huge expectations & sadly, my 8 year olds just don’t pull it off as well as the Rebels do.
Yea but how many actually make it to LSU. There are what, 3 of those 11 that are projected as 1st rounders? Listened to a bunch of my fellow OU fans rant and rave about having Witt Jr. as a commit, looked good but there wasn’t a chance in hell he was going to school.

It is a ridiculous class on paper though!

I feel the same about OU. Bennett is legit at #1, and the closer is the real deal out of the pen, but it gets real inconsistent after that. Horton who threw against the horns in Big 12 champ has looked legit of late, but that’s just 3-4 starts. If OU drops one of the first 2 games they are absolutely done.

Pretty spot on offensively. Not a ton of big time HR power with more of a gap to gap based lineup. Definitely aggressive on the base paths with speed up and down the lineup, and consistently tried to put pressure on the defense to make plays.

Bennett is obviously the Ace and will be game 1 starter Horton, the #3 starter as of late, May actually have the best stuff. He is coming off Tommy John and didn’t start pitching again until midway through the year which was his 1st college experience on the mound. Took him a few outings to get going, but his last 3-4 outings he has looked more like the projected first-rounder he was coming out of HS.

If OU starters struggle early in Omaha they are in big time trouble because the bullpen depth is not there. Past Michael and Martinez, it gets extremely inconsistent.

If someone said to you at 18-19 years old.."Hey, you want a million dollars or more ? Come play football for us." you would jump and so would I. This is not the old days of trying to play and not get hurt in college so you can make the NFL....this is right out of the gate money in college.

I agree and would definitely take the now money, instead of risking no money. On that flip side as an adult looking from the outside. he is all but guaranteed to be a high 1st round pick in 2 years which will dwarf any NIL money.

If I’m him, I’d focus on coach/development but also on who the hell has a decent OL. Unless they have a miracle year over year change, USC’s OL is downright awful. OU’s wasn’t barely average last year, so don’t blame him for bailing but there sure seems to be a lot better options than USC.
