No, he wasn’t. He won it because he was a bible thumper praising god every other play. I’m not saying the preacher was a bad player, but when you put things into context, what McFadden did at Arkansas, given that it’s Arkansas was unbelievable.

Let's sloooow down a bit here. Tebow threw for 32 TDs and rushed for 23 TDs that year. Those are absolutely Heisman numbers.

Troy Smith, on the other hand....

McFadden was an absolutely incredible college football player and a joy to watch. Arguably the best back I’ve seen as a CFB fan in my lifetime (47). Definitely a CFB hall of famer if he’s not in there already.

Man, Tebow was the real deal. He deserved his Heisman. It was jobbing DMAC the 1st year for Troy Smith that was BS.

Yep, they said he didn’t get it because he was a sophomore then turned around the next year and gave it to tbow who was a sophomore. Imagine that, the heisman has been a joke since the day they gave archie griffin his second heisman.

It’s worth mentioning that in 2007 when McFadden has 1830 yards for Arkansas, He was splitting carries with two other future NFL backs. Felix Jones had 1162 yards that year and Peyton Hillis had 347.

That 2007 backfield is the best I’ve ever seen. 522 carries for 3339 yards, 6.4 ypc, 86 receptions for 877 yds, 10.2 ypr, 970 kick return yds on 36 attempts, 26.9 yards per return.

Well maybe two thirds. McFadden with a passing attack to support him would’ve been even more unbelievable. As it was with no passing attack, he Jones and Hillis were constantly running against nine man front.

He played at rb, qb and returned kickoffs as well.

Quote:

Darren McFadden, also known as "DMac," threw two touchdown passes during the 2007 college football season with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
His two touchdown passes came in separate games:

He threw a 23-yard touchdown pass in the game against South Carolina where he also ran for an SEC-record 321 rushing yards.

He threw another touchdown pass in the triple-overtime victory against #1 LSU.

McFadden operated out of the "Wild Hog" formation (a variation of the wildcat offense) as a running back who occasionally took direct snaps and passed the ball.

Tebow had 4,000+ total yards and 55 total TDs in the absolute peak SEC meat grinder era. Those numbers were pretty much unforeseen in our conference at that point. He was a more than deserving selection in 2007. It is true he was a media darling, though, but his play on the field was more than enough to justify the award.

To put that in perspective, there have only been five players in our conference who've had 4,000+ yards and 50+ TDs in a single season. Their names are legendary. You know exactly who they are. They all won the Heisman Trophy.

2023 - Jayden Daniels
2021 - Bryce Young
2019 - Joe Burrow
2010 - Cam Newton
2007 - Tim Tebow

Don't get me wrong, though. McFadden was an all-timer. He's easily in the upper tier of SEC backs (Walker, Jackson, Henry, McFadden).

That the 2007 Arkansas team only finished 8-5 seems like such a waste for that backfield.

I'm still amazed we managed to beat you guys that year in Saban's inaugural season. That win was, in all honesty, the beginning of Saban's run.

Last time i checked, journalists have been a slightly antagonistic towards religion the past few decades (they make up the vast majority of the vote). Why do you think they decided to make a 180 when it came to Tebow and consider it a positive?

Arkansas went 2-10, 0-8 in SEC play. Notre Dame embarrassed you at home, scoring 42 points - by halftime.. You shouldn’t do anything to draw attention to Arkansas.

If Denver can squeeze out a win over the Bills tomorrow...Bo Nix will become only the 2nd Quarterback that was drafted by the Broncos, to win a playoff game for the Broncos. As of today, the only person to do that in the history of the franchise was Tim Tebow.

Dude, everyone pushed our defenses shite in this season, even your team.

That was the worst defense I can remember and the most hopeless I’ve felt going into games since morris was here. That stat means nothing.

Remember when Arky played Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl? hahahaha you had Dmac and Jones? Who did NOTHING yet Tony fuggin Temple ran for over what 400 yards and set the Cotton Bowl record? Man that had to have been a day to forget for you.

That season was one to forget because of the turmoil of a portion of the fanbase trying to destroy and run off Nutt. We had no coach in that bowl game and a team that was just wanting to get it over with, they would have lost to anyone.

It’s similar to that ohio st cotton bowl you beat your chest over when they’re best players opted out.

And those were the greatest wins in your program’s history, pretty pitiful.
