01 UT was a very good team. But we're talking about the 25 best non-title winning teams over 100 years of football, and despite them being elite when they were on and playing really well all season they had 2 head scratching, unexplainable, inexcusable losses to vastly inferior teams. I think that disqualifies them.
10 draft picks in 02. You don't remember John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth wrecking havoc on the DL?

04 auburn? I thought this was teams that didn't win the title

yes I do. You're venturing into the SC fan's argument now about "talent". Our 2000 team that donnan assembled was mega talented and IIRC all 11 starters on defense started in the NFL at some point. That doesn't mean they were one of the best temas to not win a title, it just means they were talented.
i don't think the 01 UT team that again lost to 2 massively inferior teams should be on the list.

I'd be fairly confident in saying Bama, LSU, UF and A&M all put out more talent than South Carolina
And you'd be wrong...
Between 2012-2013:
Bama put 17 players in the league
LSU put 14 players in the league
SC put 13 players in the league
UF put 10 players in the league
TAMU put 9 players in the league

No kidding, especially if Sark was O coordinator for Bama. How many 3 and outs would this game include? An ungodly amount
Yea against a great LSU secondary Freshman Jalen Hurts would have struggled. Also Jordan Jefferson would be throwing into a secondary with Eddie Jackson, Marlon Humphrey, Anthony Averett, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison, and Levi Wallace. I could argue that 2016 might have been the best Bama team ever

How does the list not include 1986 Miami? They are probably #1, in fact.

2005 USC had an average defense. Fresno State put over forty points on them!
2004 Auburn needs to be much higher and I would switch the Bama teams in the top five.
I'm just glad they didn't put 2004 OU on that list. The Sooners had no pass defense that season and it showed.

No 2001 Florida?
That team was better than quite a few on this list.
I agree. That was Spurrier's best team, IMO.
Before I saw the list, I thought of 2005 USC, 2008 Oklahoma, 1996 Ohio State, and 1998 Ohio State.
And 1983 Nebraska at 16 is WAY too low.

Definitely.
Jimmy Johnson will tell you without hesitation it was his best Miami team. Vinny Testaverde, Michael Irvin, Jerome Brown, Alonzo Highsmith and a bunch of other studs on that team.
Outgained Penn State something like 450-150 in the Fiesta Bowl but turnovers sabotaged them.

I clicked it but it every MSU team in existence

Their 85 team would've won it too but they lost the Sugar Bowl to Tennessee.

2005 USCw and this post is a reminder of the beauty pageant CFB is each year...and how susceptible people are to media bias. That D was average at best...certainly not one of the best to never win a title.

'86 Miami was a complete monster.Credit PSU in it's 3-8 defense but fricking Jimmy Johnson blew that game.

10. 1994 Penn State
There were ranked #1 and beat Ohio State 63-14 and somehow fell to #2.
