Agreed. I’d have them in the top five. Averaged 52 points a game and more than 400 yards rushing. They scored more than 60 five times and more than 70 twice. They were a machine.

Big 8 was garbage and they struggled with both OU and OSU.

Texas woulda completely shut them down. The
Longhorns had SEVENTEEN players drafted in
the '84 draft including 10 on defense.

1995 Florida should be there. Loaded team but ran into GOAT. No one was beating 95 NEB

Not sure why 1995 UF isn't on this list.

To NOT have the 1966 Alabama team on that list is ridiculous. Hell, they were the only undefeated and untied team in D-1 that year, and they were undefeated the year before.

One thousand pardons! You're correct. They were AP national champions in '65.
By the way, did you see the replay or still pictures of that play? If there had been instant replay back then, we'd have had a different winner. I remember seeing the Sports Illustrated still picture progression of that play, and losing it!

Great team, but that was Spurrier's third best team at Florida. I still think your 2001 team was his best. They could have beaten anyone on this list on the right day.

2004 Auburn

Undefeated in the SEC and don't get to play in the NC. About as bad a hozing as I've ever seen.

Absolutely, I still don't know how that wasn't called back but hey it feels nice to be the recipient of a blown call for once

Alabama was 9-1-1 in 1965. A lot of shite had to happen for us to win the AP national championship that season.

Despite what happened in the title game, Oklahoma earned that spot. The SEC in 2004 was not what it became once Urban got to Florida and Saban got to Alabama. The Big Ten was a better conference back then.

Those USC teams had a bad, bad habit of losing to bad teams in the middle of the season (i.e. losing consecutive trips to Oregon State in 2006 and 2008 and nearly losing at Oregon State in the 2004 Fog Bowl) but they absolutely brought it in big games. It took something amazing to take them down when the spotlight was on, such as Vince Young turning into Jesus in cleats. 2004 Auburn was great, but I don't think they would have beaten USC.

Auburn refused to play an AQ OOC.

Great O-Line. Great Defence. Two NFL RBs. NFL QB. 5 future NFL Pro Bowlers.

That Auburn team was better than the Oklahoma squad and probably as good as USC. Problem is we'll never know.

A playoff that year would've been great

USC
OK
AUB
TEX/CAL (that was another one that was debated for the rose bowl spot). Aaron Rodgers played like a GOAT in the loss to USC
