The reason is because all the other teams in the SEC Big 6 had won national titles post-1998. A&M just isn't a Big 6 member. Same reason you don't see similar posts about Ole Miss, State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Missouri.

But really, 40 years aint THAT long and a bunch of you teenagers will understand that when you actually experience the years flying by.
I suspect the joke is fun for FL and TN since they have (or had) more recent Natties, but in all honesty, a National Championship is pretty rare- there are probably only 25 or so schools that have won even one in the last hundred years.
Good for GA. I hipe they dont start throwing around 1996 jokes or whatever year TN last won it. Making fun of a NC years later is about as stupid as making fun of Justin Verlander in 2060 for marrying Kate Upton- i mean, she’ll be so old and it will be 40 years since he last married the hottest woman on the planet.
Such a long, drawn out way to say “We are a historically meaningless program and our last title was in 1939.”
