Only if you are a pussy.. Good teams and good schools don’t need some fake perception to get “votes”.. Kentucky gets the benefit of the doubt in the tourney because they usually have a good team. It isn’t because they are in the SEC.

A school like A&M.. yeah ok, that makes more sense. They need coattails to ride on..

A bubble team will be at the mercy of the committee. National perception of your schedule is gonna be very important.

As far as us in shooty hoops? Conference perception can make the difference between a couple of seeds. We've gotten screwed a few times due out poor conference ratings with a seed a couple spots lower than we'd like.

Ok, I have been a member since like 08, but haven't posted here for some years. However, this comment brought me out of the woodwork.

That smug, disrespectful comment about how we wouldn't understand was completely baseless. As if Louisville joined the conference you guys would welcome them with open arms? You wouldn't, and you know it. So let me give you some clarity of why we hate other schools in the Big12.

1) OU- Up until recently OU has been coming across the border and loading up more than 50% of their roster with Texas players. You guys might remember Rhett Bomar and Big Red Auto, but OU has been cheating like that for decades. So we hate them.
2) Tech- They throw batteries and frozen tortillas at you when you play there. One of the worst places to play outside of Ohio State.
3) Baylor- A bunch of self righteous Christians in the day time, but cheaters and rapists at night. Ever wonder how a school with 18,000 students can get the basketball players they do? Track athletes they do? Josh Gordon went to Baylor because he was under supervised probation and could not leave Texas. Trash. So we hate them.
4) TCU- Same thing. A school that has Christian in the name that damned near got the death penalty back in the day. Cheaters.

And that brings us to former big12 member, Texas Agriculture and Mechanics University. Let me tell you why we hate them...

While Texas has largely underachieved on the Football field when it comes to National Titles with only 4, we still are number 4 all time in wins. We have winning records vs just about everybody save a slim few. As a school, we are number 6 all times with total NCAA championships with 47, and have 564 conference titles. We were still able to generate the most revenue in the nation even though we were in the Big12. We graduate people who go on to do big things like Michael Dell, Rex Tillerson, Walter Cronkite, William H McRaven, Ann Richards, Greg Abbott, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. We have put out entertainers like Farrah Fawcett, Owen Wilson, Renee Zellweger, Jayne Mansfield, Robert Rodriguez, and Janis Joplin to name a few. Even Tom g-damned Landry went to Texas.

Then there are the Aggies. Instead of owning their one national title, they do weird stuff like claim every weird title they've ever been given. If we did that we would have 9, but we don't and neither do you guys. Pretty sure they are the only school to get slapped with the "Lack of Institutional Control" 3 times by the NCAA for cheating. They have weird chants, and wear their class rings their entire lives as if their college is somehow superior to everyone else's. They have a victim mentality. They constantly wear their Aggie gear. Every. Single. Day! They still buy t shirts talking about sawing horns off when we haven't played them or been in the same conference for a decade. Longhorn grads don't do that.

But the real reason we dislike them is because even though they only have 1 football title back in 1939, 178 total school conference championships, 13 total NCAA titles, are ranked 24 spots below us academically, and the series is 76-37-5, they still consider us their rival.

We have been dragging their butts for the better part of 100 years. In everything, and they still keep running their mouths. I am sure you guys are seeing everything I just laid out for you. This last week or so the little brother complex has been out there for all the world to see and it's ugly. Imagine working next to that guy day in and day out. Then you would understand WHY we hope they get dragged by every team they play. In any sport. For all eternity.
