The problem is not that Texas is getting treated like royalty. The problem is that everyone thinks that Texas is getting treated like royalty.

How exactly is Texas getting preferential treatment?

Our schedule?
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Arkansas

Georgia or Alabama (we just played Georgia)
Florida or Auburn (toss up)
Kentucky or South Carolina (toss up)

That's 6 games that were a given.

The last 2 are very specific reasons.
1) Miss State or Ole Miss
Miss State had more SEC wins in the 10 year period for which they looked.

2) Vanderbilt or Tennessee
Texas probably was given Vanderbilt here.
Why? Texas had to play Oklahoma and Oklahoma > Texas during that 10 year period.

Oklahoma + Vanderbilt + Miss State ~ Texas + Tennessee + Ole Miss.

Then Mike Leach died.
Then Ole Miss got good.
Then Tennessee got good.
Then Oklahoma sucked.

And the scales got lopsided quickly.

At the end of the day, what preference has Texas been given?

I 100% understand that the perception is there, but that's all it is.. and at the end of the day, the perception is just as damaging.. but I'd argue that is because of one's own insecurities rather than big bad Texas.
