Texas could possibly make history this year if they win it all

Has there ever been a national champion with zero wins over ranked teams during the regular season? I actually don’t know the answer to this question.
I highly doubt there’s been one in the SEC, but I could be wrong. Assuming they may be the first, is anyone else pinching themselves that we might get to witness such a monumental moment in college football history?
I want to hear from Texas fans on this one. It would make for a great ESPN trivia question in the middle of the game.

Discuss what? Do you want the answer to your initial question? That seems like a yes or no response, and not a discussion.

1984 BYU for starters, it’s probably happened many times

Georgia in 1980 off the top of my head.

1984 BYU played no ranked teams and won the Holiday Bowl 24-17 vs. a 6-5 Michigan team.
I think the 2 best wins were vs. 8-4 Air Force or 7-4 Hawaii who also lost to Cal State Fullerton.

Well, since you asked......
It is ridiculous that people continue to take shots at Texas over the regular season schedule. We joined the SEC. We scheduled the defending national champs in their house in week 2. What else can we do?
Don't blame Texas. Blame Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, aggot and arkie for being complete jokes.

Not an issue because Texas won't win the natty. Alabama has won 6 national championships since Texas last.

Texas could also make history by beating all of the Big 4 Conference Champions
Clemson ACC
Arizona State Big12
Oregon Big
Georgia SEC
Clemson ACC
Arizona State Big12
Oregon Big
Georgia SEC

The table is turned now on you.
Saban out and no CFP for you.
Bama will never make the playoff again.

5. Not sure where you get 6 from.

1984 BYU comes to mind. They didn’t play a ranked team in the bowl game either. Best team they played was 3-7-1 Pitt that season and were consensus national champions
ETA you alright? Your troll posts I’ve come across here today seem to have a rather seething tone to them. Prayers fam

1970 Nebraska was really close. Their regular season wins were over:
Wake Forest - 6-5
Army - 1-9-1
Minnesota - 3-6-1
Missouri - 5-6
Kansas - 5-6
Oklahoma State - 4-7
Colorado - 6-5
Iowa State - 5-6
Kansas State - 6-5
#20t Oklahoma - 7-4-1
They were the 1970 AP National Champions, and had wins over 4 teams with winning records. Oklahoma was tied for 20th place (the AP only listed the top 20 back then) with Ole Miss.

.....but now, instead of Bama being one of the few programs to pay players, everyone cay pay players. Let's see how you do going wallet to wallet with Texas boosters. THIS is why Bama isn't in the playoffs and is also why your AD is publicly begging and pleading for money:

Texas won't win it all.
The time to make our adjustments has long passed. We didn't respond, and so we limped along the 2nd half of the season crushing people with our defense and just trying not to lose on offense.
We won games with 10-point margins that should have been blowouts. We lost a championship game that we failed to lock down in the 1st half.
Texas has no offensive killer instinct. The offense is an outdated, west coast, dink and dunk pillow fight that SEC teams have no trouble boxing in and shutting down. And Texas has no answer due to a weak armed immobile QB. More often than not, Texas fails to burn a greedy defense.
Everybody and their dog knows Texas is winning nothing with Ewers at QB. But when you make this far, you get away with not closing the deal. (Sark)
Pre-playoff melt over.

It doesn't say much for the SEC that, as a member of the conference, Texas can go a whole season and only play one ranked team.
