Texas A&M did not deserve the Playoff

Not sure why so many people think the Aggies deserved it. I mean just compare the resumes:
RECORD
Ohio State: 6-0 (100%)
Notre Dame: 10-1 (90.9%)
Texas A&M: 8-1 (88.9%)
LOSSES
Ohio State: None
Texas A&M: #1 Alabama by 28 points
Notre Dame: #2 Clemson by 24 points
TOP 25 WINS
Ohio State: 2 (#11 Indiana; #14 Northwestern)
Notre Dame: 2 (#2 Clemson; #13 N. Carolina)
Texas A&M: 1 (#7 Florida)
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Ohio State: YES
Notre Dame: NO, but played in conference title game
Texas A&M: NO
I feel like this year was about as straight forward of a year as you'll ever see. Sure, Notre Dame will get boat-raced by Alabama, but Texas A&M already experienced that themselves this year and they would have again had there been a rematch.
In the history of the College Football Playoff, 25 of the 28 teams that have ever played in it either won their Conference Championship or went undefeated. The only teams that did not were these:
2016 Ohio State: Lost to #5 that year, but defeated #6, #7, and #8. That's 3 wins over Top 8 teams which is a very strong resume, IMO
2017 Alabama: Lost to #7 that year. Defeated #17 and #23. IMO, very weak resume for sure. I still say they did not deserve to go to the Playoff based on actual resume. Obviously they were the best team that year, but they were given a complete pass to get into the Playoff
2020 Notre Dame: Lost to #2 that year, but defeated #2 and #13.
The bottom line is that A&M just did not have enough quality wins. Ultimately had Florida not been upset by LSU, the Gators would have been ranked #7 and that win over them would look better. But the real dagger was Auburn losing to South Carolina. Had Auburn just won that game, they would have been 7-3 with their only losses to Top 9 teams. They'd be sitting in the Top 15 and that would have given Aggie a second Top 15 win which would have put their resume closer in line with Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Ultimately though, the committee is not going to give a Playoff spot to a team that did not win its division and also had just one Top 25 win.

Ohio State played 6 fricking games. They roll into the playoffs not having to have been tested and extra 3, 4, or 5 times. They didn’t have to have guys risk injury. It’s a sham. I know it’s not their fault, but it is their conferences fault. They should not be playing in the playoff.

Sec eliminates its own teams because it’s so difficult
A&M uga and fla likely all make it out of any other conference this season

They still beat two Top 15 opponents compared to just one for Texas A&M. Plus they have a Conference Title.
They only played 3 fewer games than Texas A&M. Had they played those 3 games, they could have absorbed a loss and STILL had a better resume than Texas A&M by virtue of more quality wins and a Conference Title.
I mean had they played 3 extra games against teams outside the Top 25, do we really think they would have lost more than once?

Careful. Your brethren will expel you for talking sense like that.

Is it? We only have 4 teams ranked in the Top 30, and Aggie only played 2 of them... got destroyed in one of them. That's not very impressive.

Yep. Sorry A&M fans but I agree. A rematch with Bama would be boring and simply another Bama blow out.

Ohio State has no business in the playoff with only 6 games played, but I'm not losing sleep over it. I'll enjoy kicking the shite out of North Carolina in the Orange Bowl far worse than Notre Dame did, then laughing at the national media for 8 months.

You're right. Texas A&M isn't your typical playoff worthy team.
6-0 isn't your typical playoff worth schedule.
Being beat by 24pts a couple weeks before the playoff isn't your typical playoff worthy performance.
This clearly isn't your "typical" playoff year. That being said, I'm less impressed by Ohio state than the other 2, and unlike the other 2, Texas A&M didn't receive any special treatment from their conferences to help them out.
