I think the vast majority on this board agree but won't admit. Many folks said all year the SEC was weak in traditional senses with no 1-2 teams overpowering the others. It reminded me of the early 2000s where there was no single power.

The SEC is probably not as strong as we were a few years ago, but still better than most other conferences. The B1G seems to match up well, but only time will tell on that as we match up with them.
I don't think we fair well with them this year. I think the SEC is down by a good bit overall, that's why a mediocre Tennessee like that did well. Playoffs will help better determine that though if they make it to BIG teams.
Tennessee got the shittiest bracket spot out of any team by far to make up for their weak schedule. That OSU team is not an 8 seed. Texas got gifted the second best spot behind PSU.

Clemson got a lot better than when they played Georgia.
Clemson did look better. But that usually happens when you play an average team like Texas.

Don’t forget that South Carolina beat Clemson at Clemson…not sure Texas wins yesterday without home field advantage

It's a good thing the SEC added Texas to come save their arse

If you say Tennessee is overrated then that diminishes the ohio state’s victory. Realizing that no one on here likes the ohio state, they are nonetheless a very good team that was playing at home.
Yes they lost to Michigan but as we know rivalry games can go either way. Georgia Tech beat Georgia but just did not win the game. Tennessee was still a good team. They just ran into a buzz saw yesterday on the road.
All that to say the playoff games were all duds. Maybe the next round will be better.
I do agree that once the twelve teams are picked or have qualified, they should be seeded 1-12. ND and ohio state would have been top 4 most likely along with Oregon and Georgia.

It pains me to say, but georgis is king of college football right now. They should have been in the playoffs last year. They will win it this year. Kirby is the best recruiter and coach of college football

Basically.
OSU >>>>> UTk
UTk > Bama > UGA > UTx & UTk
It's what garbage ooc games get you. You can't compare conferences til bowl postseason.

It only took us 1 try to beat UGA by 18 points. How did Texas fare in their two tries against UGA?
A single game means nothing. I mean look at Ole Miss' losses. Does that definitively say how strong Kentucky/LSU/Florida was, or how weak Ole Miss was? No. Ole Miss had a good team. All I know is Texas played us twice and played us very well. I think we will do well in the playoffs (Hope, really) and i also think Texas will do well in the playoffs.

I agree the SEC is a little down but who in college football is legit good this year?
Just Oregon?
Nobody is head and shoulders better than the others. We won't get a good feel for the B1G until they face Georgia and/or Texas.
Just a gut feeling is Georgia/Texas/Ohio State and Oregon are the best teams.....but with flaws and any could be beaten. With our starting QB injured we would seem to be the team most at risk....but we could also win it all, too.

But, Georgia is not as good as usual.

We will see.
I mean...you are right, obviously. Georgia seems to play best when it is unexpected. Maybe this teams rises to a challenge? Maybe we sail through the playoffs? maybe we get beat like Tennessee last night? Who knows how good this team is. We played a really tough schedule and came out pretty good with a lot of injuries.

Hmmm, reading this is OP relenting and saying Tennessee is the real UT. Tennessee is overrated but still a good team?

No need to create more divisions or anything. There have been inequities among different schools since college football began. There will always be inequities.
I would argue it is outside interference in an attempt to correct perceived inequities that has led us to where we are today.

If Tenner is a quality win then SMU Clemson and Indians would have to be as well I would think .

Texas smoked the ACC champs by two scores.
it was also quite obvious which team had the better Texas HS phenom at QB too - it was the one that threw for 134 more yards and 2 more TD - than the other one -
eta - as for Tennessee - they benefited from a favorable unbalanced schedule much like Texas did to qualify for the CFP -
