Has won four AP national championships in their history. Only one team in the SEC has won more.

Since when is a barely over .500 all time program “a step away” from the elite?? More like 50 steps.

I mean isnt Penn State considered in the blue blood club? Not sure on them.

Iowa is happy staying at their lvl as shown by Kirk being there forever.

I'd say next to make it would be Oregon if they arent in it now. Aggies and Washington are trying as well.

Hell, I will jump in with my best guess. A&M, we always seem to be one step away. Whether it's the right players and staff or not, we never quite get there. Our football program has the most support and one of the biggest budgets in the country. We were just one step away. We took it when we stole Jimbo.

You could’ve just put this in the OP since it’s what you wanted to say anyway. PS you haven’t taken a step towards shite. Actually win some meaning football games before y’all are there

Not a bad question but you caught the board in a surly mood this morning

I don’t think people are being “surly”.

A&M is a good team, but the “next” step for them is not “Alabama” level.

They need a west division title, an SEC championship, and a NC at some point to even discuss the “next” step.

Right now in the SEC, I think Georgia is knocking on the door, however, until a team wins 2 NCs in a decade, I don’t think declaring them royalty is right.

I think state is realistic, well, most of their fans who’ve followed for more than a few years.

They want or breakthrough and win the west again.

I think they would want to win a title of some sort before asking for elite status.

The bulldogs are not delusional.

One step away from being elite? Y'all might want to actually win the West for once before you start talking like that. Right now TAMU is a mid tier SEC team.

Big 10 schools integrated a lot sooner than the SEC did. Michigan had a black player in the 1890s.
