Hangout line up wasn't very good last year but wasn't that bad. However, the line up this year is embarrassingly bad. You're right though. The line up started very strong and has progressively gotten worse each year. Fun festival set up though.

Wasn't trying to pick on you personally btw. The spring break crowd does create legitimate problems as do a few of Hangout Festival goers and a few of the WSP fans. Sounds like we agree about the area mayors. Crazy how they disapprove of and basically stereotype certain brands of music and certain drinking establishments when the Flora Bama, Keg, and other places get a free pass because they're culturally acceptable.

I love the FB btw. Just saying the hypocrisy is very annoying. Btw, doesn't suprise me about the reggae discrimination. I'm sure the omnipotent mayor also deemed that to be "not who we are" as a community. One or more of the members may have smoked weed once in their lives so they're too tainted and heathen to be worthy of the mayor.

When was your first time to come to GS?

I came with my folks in mid late 50s. Mostly fishing shacks and Twix and Tween had a motel. Also The Light House. They had a motel and also small beach cabins.
Those were the days.

PCB banned alcohol on beaches for the whole month of March because of this.

My aggie friend was arrested due to this. I told him to avoid PCB, it's trash

I can remember a cop in Ft Walton tell me to get out of town and never come back.

So I walked to Destin!

It was going to have a reggae band playing all the time. Both OB and GS didnt want that type of crowd

I think your friend didn't tell you the full story. "The type of crowd" wasn't the reason.

Reggae bars in beach towns draw a lot of middle aged white people who tend to smoke mostly on vacations.

Just like a Jimmy buffet restaurant, right?

No it was because they felt they didnt need another place with loud music. The restaurant opened at universal in Orlando instead

I get why people do it, but I just don't see how hanging out on an overcrowded, trashed out beach for a week is fun.

Kids want to 1) get drunk, and 2) get laid...in that order, and the beach is free, convenient and few articles of clothing are worn there.

going to Riviera Maya next weekend. Hopefully no SB's will be present at the resort I am at. It was fun when younger but now seems sad!

These beach towns whore themselves out for the college kids money, then bitch about it when they trash their beach. It started in Ft Lauderdale moved to Daytona, then to Jacksonville. Pushed to PCB then to Destin/Ft Walton, now in Pensacola and Gulf Shores. I have little sympathy for those who do not study history.

Then they needed to pass ordinances restricting condo occupancy during this period and enforce alcohol laws.

If you don't think that frats breed entitled behavior, you must have never been around a cool frat. I liked frat parties, and have plenty of friends that were in fraternities, but let's be honest... This behavior is in line with a lot of frats. That's simply the truth.

When I was in school nearly everyone got kicked out of their condos/houses early. It was an annual thing. People would consolidate into other condos/houses, promptly getting them booted as well. As the week went on, you would take in straggler sorority girls provided you could keep your own place.

This applied to fraternity and non-greeks.

It was more of a "do you have a penis and like to use it" thing as opposed to a "fraternity yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" thing.

Only been to Hangout once, but I felt like everyone was reasonable, and it was way better behaved than I was suspecting. The only annoying this was the Seminole fans and their chant.
