Talk to me about Tennessee fans

We're fairly new to this conference, but we've pretty much played everyone already (Bama and LSU before joining the SEC but pretty recent) except for Tennessee fans. Some people say they're passionate, some say they're the worst fanbase in the SEC. So who are they really? And should we be scared if we travel there?

They’ve been through a lot these past 30 years. Judge them not too harshly.

From what I hear, opposing fans are treated decently and generally have a great time. I think most actual fans want visitors to go home with a positive experience of the city and the gameday environment. We spent a long time losing, so unlike what you see on the internet, a lot of the real fans that have been around for a while are pretty grounded.

We had a great time but it’s been a while. Tailgated at Calhouns on the River which was really cool.
I remember the seating being a tad tight. Like tight tight.

It’s a cool stadium. Old but nice atmosphere. Went up for the A&M game in Knoxville a couple years back.
No issues at all. Some light ribbing walking into the stadium.

It’s a noon kickoff. The stadium atmosphere won’t be a factor

You mean the real UT?
Nobody in the SEC refers to Texas as UT. They really like the color orange ,have a huge stadium that hasnt seen a decent team since phil Fulmer . The 3rd best Manning played there.
Oh and like to throw mustard.

I like sections xx, yy and zz because they have individual seats. They’re up there, but the stadium is steep so you still have a good view.

They wear orange of a different tint and are mostly 3rd or 4th generartion Americans.

I think they will treat you with hospitality if you act decent. probably the nicest fan base I encountered outside of Miss St. Some will knock me from this but I think the terrain in Knoxville is pretty with the hills and mountains. I enjoyed my trip there. We won with JaMarcus Russell and their fans were pissed after the game but I had a blast.

Just like every other stadium as a visitor. Act like you would if you were visiting someone’s home and they’ll treat you like a guest. Show your arse and they’ll accommodate that in an appropriate manner.
I know at UGA when visiting fans from a school outside of common opponents we, UGA fans, are friendlier and more willing to show visitors a good time. There’s more ribbing and ball busting….mostly friendly… when it’s a team we play regularly. Yall will be a first time visitor…most likely they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Again, if you’re an arse they will be an arse.
If they are playing well they will be loud and that fricking song will be ringing non stop. If they are getting beat they will be quiet and will leave early like most fans.
The stadium is very tight. Far from the worst college stadium, in fact about average, but it’s huge and it “feels” tighter than most. Not terrible for a college stadium.
All in all it’s a good atmosphere. UT fans are like most, act like you’re a guest in their home and you’ll be treated like a guest. Act an arse and ain’t no telling what you’ll experience.

Great program. Awesome stadium.
The fans can be a little obnoxious but nothing too crazy.

They will start tailgating around 7am...
This was a Noon kickoff in 2014 after Tennessee had lost 2 straight games...so it wasn't because they were hyped up for having a great start to the season.
