Sumrall you're comparing Apples & Oranges. Two rivalry teams in the same conference.

Lets keep it real... Tulane success was built by Willie Fritz. Nobody in this country (even you) thought that Tulane had any shot at beating Ole Miss. You had nothing to lose by walking the sideline one last time for that arse whipping.

...and at the end of the day, you were UF's 2nd HC Option behind Lane.

Lane gives off HELLA FEMININE energy!

Ole Miss was the PERFECT fit for Lane!

LSU, not so much because LSU isn’t a baby soft program unlike Ole Miss

Lane is a GOOD (NOT great) coach that is a TOTAL wrong fit for LSU

Just like DeBoer, GOOD coach but WRONG fit

Lane won’t last long but will last longer than DeBoer

He just never will win anything so we will see just how long the LSU brass put up with his antics

My bet says 3-5 yrs MAX

Sumrall and Golding will both be massive failures.

Wild statement. Sumrall has been nothing but a winner. Jury’s out on Golding, all he’s done is win two playoff games during turmoil.

For LSU fans:

Sumrall was not discussing LSU, Ole Miss, or Lane Kiffin. He was responding to a question asking if he would have came to UF if UF told him he couldn't coach Tulane in the CFP.

Why did he feel the need to say he wasn't talking a shot at anyone.

If you were AD and Lane was to inform you that he was going to coach at Alabama next year. Would you want him to finish the season. Especially when his replacement is already in place and chopping at the bit.

Sumrall is the type of coach you’d run through a brick wall for.

That’s another part of the Lane fiasco that pisses me off. If Lane had just gone ahead and been a man and said “I don’t believe in myself or this team to compete in the playoffs I’m giving up and taking the LSU job because I think I won’t have to work as hard there” we all could have moved on much earlier and Ole Miss was targeting John Sumrall for the HC Position and the plan was to keep Pete at DC.

Lane tried to coach Ole Miss in the playoffs. Their AD wouldn’t allow it after Lane took the head coaching job at their arch rival mid season before a playoff run.

Do LSU fans realize how fricking insane this request was?

You may have gotten lucky with Pete.

Because of what reason? Was it Ole Miss was butt hurt over it or Lane was recruiting Ole Miss players to come to LSU? Or was it both?

OK, but I think you mean "Ole Miss built different from Tulane", because those are school decisions. Really nothing to do with the coaches.

He said he would not have left Tulane if his new employer told him he couldn't coach in the playoffs. Lane's new employer never put any ultimatums on him like that.

He even acknowledged he left his current team before the playoff, and asked whether they wanted him to coach. Sounds just like what Lane did

Pretty much, Tulane just said yes and Ole Miss said no. Which is understandable, but definitely not the same thing.

At the root, it was just pride. Ole Miss fans said they were worried about Lane poaching players, but no one seemed to care about half the staff coaching the playoff.

He was responding to a question from a reporter

He could've left his quote, "this isn't a shot at anyone" out of his answer to the reporter. It's obvious that he was thinking about someone/anyone when he answered.
