re: Sumrall abandoned Tulane right before a playoff berth after a historic season. Outrage?

Gee I dunno maybe b/c Sumrall didn't burn down all his bridges in the process like Kiffin did?
It's hilarious how incredibly obtuse some of you LSU fans ca be.
Tulane's AD actually came out and said how transparent Sumrall has been during the entire process. Letting him know he was taking calls and what exactly was going on, and that he might take some coaches as well. He said something along the lines of "Sumrall is the same guy behind closed doors as he is in public".
I would bet his dog is actually his, too.

Because Tulane and Florida are in the same conference and are permanent opponents that play every year, right?
So we're shifting the argument from the playoff angle to being divisional opponents?
Just so we're clear.

It seems that the only difference was Tulane understood their place and agreed to let him keep coaching.
Had Tulane reacted emotionally and spatially like Ole Miss, I'm sure Sumrall would have left for Gainesville immediately and "left the players high and dry".
The bridges were only burnt b/c of how the Ole Miss AD bungled this whole thing.

As far as im concerned, any school that let's a head coach continue to coach after leaving for another school is a cukold. If lsu was in the playoffs and kiffin was leaving for alabama, you know damn well he wouldn't be allowed to coach.

It's kinda like your wife leaving you for your next door neighbor, if she left you for some blow joe three cities away , sure it would probably hurt for awhile, but eventually you can get over her, especially because you rarely would ever see her again. Now if she's sleeping with your neighbor two houses down the street and you have to see that bitches parked car in his driveway every day, thats alot different, and if she says let's go to the family Christmas get together and pretend we're still together for our families sake and then after the holidays we part ways for good . Not gonna happen cappen.

We all assumed you were retarded. I don't understand why you just worked so hard to prove it.

Tulane has zero shot to win the CFP. They are the classic “happy to be here” situation.
Ole Miss is, indeed, different.

I may be out of the loop but has Sumrall failed or left a team in the lurch everywhere he has been? Kiffin has. I don’t care one way on another but Kiffin is a whore and whatever happens his new employer deserves it….good, bad or indifferent.

Tulane understands that Florida is a bigger/better job.
LSU doesn’t understand that LSU isn’t a bigger/better job than Ole Miss.

Thats because he is a Joe Smoe Dollar General coach. Nobody is scared of what he might do at Florida. Now go 180deg opposite of that. All of the people bitching are scared to death of wat Kiffin is about to do with the resources afforded to him at LSU. They know LSU just released a beast and they are scared shitless !!

What metrics did you use to come to this conclusion?

Kiffin could have kept everything under wraps until after the playoffs but instead
sent his family on a very public tour of
Gainesville and Baton Rouge while insisting
he was praying on his decision . If LSU had
agreed to wait until after the playoffs why
make it public ? My guess is he wanted to be fired then try to negotiate a buyout from Ole Miss. Just remember to keep Vaseline handy.
This ^^^^
Lane and Jimmy Sexton handled it EXACTLY how they planned it. Both of them knew all of this could have been handled behind the scenes, and Lane could have coached Ole Miss through the playoffs, then after the playoffs could have made an announcement that he was leaving to go to LSU. People would have still been ticked off, but the situation would have never gotten as ugly as it has.
Ole Miss would have been absolutely STUPID to allow him to spend another month around the team and the program. There's already going to be defections, but him being allowed to be around the program and their recruits for another month could have easily made it worse. Ole Miss did the right thing and told him "no". Lane's overly public display of the entire process is what laid the foundation for it to turn into the clown show it did.

LSU was going to let him stay through the playoffs until his last game. So you are saying it’s OM’s fault it ended the way it did.
Would you let your HC coach your team in the playoff if he was leaving for Alabama the next year? No concern of him recruiting your players or adding to his resume while on your clock? I don't think any school in the same situation would allow a coach leaving to a conference rival the opportunity to have any more access to their program
