Saban lost to Tuberville. He lost to Chizik. He lost to Malzahn. He will lose to Harsin at least once. Saban's record at Jordan Hare is pretty bad at LSU and Bama. He chokes there.

No it just means that AU doesn't gauge success by just beating Bama. All three coaches were fired.

Dude get a grip. Y’all share not only a division with the goat but also a fricking state. Not to mention you’ve got UGA right up the road as well. It would have made sense if the replacement was a big name but it wasn’t. It’s like they just got rid of Gus just for the hell of it. Auburn is out. A&M will replace them as the other west team with LSU trying to dethrone them. Auburn was always a lock for 3rd maybe 2nd in the west. Now they’re down there with Arkansas and state.

I'll take it a step further and predict Saban beats Aubrun this year in Auburn and next year in Tuscaloosa and loses to them in 2023 in Auburn. It's like clockwork with him. For all the success he has had his 9-5 record against Auburn at Alabama isn't very impressive. His 2-3 record against Auburn when he was at LSU wasn't either.

No it's my fault. I should just walk away when I get fired up so I don't make an arse of myself

Truth is, I know we are in for a rebuild. 6-6 is definitely not out of the question next year. I'd like to think we find a way to win 7-8.

Harsin isn't a big name or a splash hire, but none of our coaches have been and they've all found at least some success. He is a better coach, albeit at a smaller program in another part of the country than pretty much all of our previous head coaches. I do like the hire and think he's a solid coach who will build it the right way. I think very highly of his staff as well...so far.

Despite what some of our fans may believe, we are not Alabama, nor should we aspire to. Historically we are a top-15 program who has a great season time to time with a lot of average ones. He needs to try and get us closer to UGA and LSU rather than chasing Alabama.

9-10 wins/year should be in our wheelhouse considering our recruiting footprint and resources.
You are one of the most level-headed posters on the board, and your opinion is more respected for it.
The people (like the OP) who are so obviously envious and biased toward another team/fan base have their opinion scoffed at, and consequently taken with a grain of salt.

REC baby....

Reality, if AU beat Alabama at the end of the years those coaches were fired, they would not have been fired. Auburn could go 1-11 every year, but if they beat Alabama it is enough.

Alabama is almost as bad, although if our coach does not win a NC in 4 years, they will be pressured out as well

Thank you, sir.

You really used to fire me up too, but you can be very reasonable too and I see that now.

Had retired two weeks earlier.

More likely than not, the reason why Alabama lost the IB those years is the lack of focus

They got fired at end of lackluster-to-horrible seasons. Bama just happens to be the last game. With logic as simple as yours every decision to fire or not fire an Auburn coach would be automatically based off of the Bama game.

But the question is, would they have survived if they had beaten Alabama? The answer is yes.

Only Gus and that is because AU would have been 7-3.

LOL... you know I am right. I am not saying that the coach would not take heat for the year, but he could save his job if he beat Alabama.

You are delusional if you think otherwise.

Nope, just stating the facts. However he did make it official on Dec 15th, it was after the USM game that finalized it.

YOU are delusional if you think that ANY win was saving Chizik's job after posting the worst Auburn season in 2012. Tuberville was also done before losing that game in 2008. If beating ALabama were so important, why would we let a guy go who had just won 6 in a row after losing one game? The problem is Alabama fans are so fricking arrogant and clueless that they think every decision made in our program revolves around them.

Like I said above, Alabama fans, especially the trashy, ignorant, uneducated ones ALWAYS know more about the inner workings of our athletic department than we do.
