State has a lockdown secondary that gives them a chance against Tennessee
This made me laugh

Why pass? All they have to do is run the ball against State. It's going to get ugly for State.
Tennessee's run game isn't what it was last year. If you look at SEC running backs with over 32 carries (8 or more carries per game) averaging over 6 yards per carry...it's pretty sad. 2 from Mizzou and 2 from Tennessee.
Hardy (Mizzou) - 79 carries/ 7.6 ypc
Cobb (Auburn) - 52 carries/ 7.2 ypc
Washington (Arkansas) - 46 carries/ 7.2 ypc
Roberts (Mizzou) - 42 carries/ 7.1 ypc
Thomas (UT) - 42 carries/ 6.5 ypc
Bishop (UT) - 38 carries/ 6.9 ypc

Tennessee will probably try to run it down our throats at first before they let JA start doing his play action passes. If I was Heupel, I would come out running the ball down our throats. Hopefully they don't though and immediately play to our strength because of JA's numbers thus far.

State's going to win this game.
Lebby's done a helluva job so far. Vols have been underwhelming from what I've seen.
F it I'm ridin. Geaux State!

I think Georgia runs the 3-3-5 Defense against Tennessee.

If Shapen is playing well I think this is potentially a track meet. UT’s secondary has been iffy (statistically speaking) and State has a couple of burners at WR.
If both offenses are playing well this may be one of the more entertaining games in the SEC this year.

Saw a tweet that said MissSt had 119 wins since 2008 and tenner had 118.
That surprised me.

TN will be running open all day.
TN 52
MSU 24
State is my 2nd favorite team, but they're not ready.

It was State ahead by a comfortable margin until 2023. UT won 19 games in 2023 and 2024 while State was bottoming out and only won 7. Even after the last two years, State is still slightly ahead in that span since 08.
State unquestionably had more success than Tennessee in the 2010’s, not really even much of a debate.

They run the 3-4 and play man the vast majority of the time, they may throw a 3-3-5 out vs certain packages(4 WR for example). 3-3-5 is zone heavy
Also lol @ a shootout. Both defenses practice against the veer and shoot every day, yet both offenses are going up against defenses they’ll only practice for this week. Both defenses have a massive advantage from a familiarity standpoint

Don’t let their fans and hype machine fool you. They were supposed to take over the horseshoe in December and how’d that go for them?

So I guess my Missouri Tigers will be running the ball just about non-stop against State? Thanks for the scouting report.

We have a special cowbell plan this weekend. Vols are about to experience the Grind.

They can absolutely run the ball well when they have to.That Star Thomas kid is scary looking when he gets the ball.
I think that Heupel just has a lot of trust in Aguilar and let's him do his thing which is to be a gunslinger. They are much more pass happy with JA at QB than they were with that Nico kid.

Tennessee's Offensive line depth is where both the run game and pass game could be derailed.

tGrind is coming
UTk hasn’t played in an environment like this yet. They will be rattled…. Too many missed field goals Will coat them. It’s happening.
