Do you think the LSU football Coaching job was offered to Tom Herman? I bet it was, but the LSU AD office would say it was never offered to Herman.

That’s my point about why $1.7m is such a ridiculous number though. Like, it’s assumed that Schloss just signed the most lucrative extension ever for the sport, and he still wouldn’t be breaking $1.5m if $1.4m is remotely accurate. I wasn’t saying State can’t hire a top flight coach; I’m saying $1.7m is entirely too high a number that in no way fits into the current economy of college baseball

That being said, if State were floating something larger than $1.2m around, it’d be a pretty significant pay raise for anyone mentioned outside of Schloss, so it does seem more likely that $1-1.3m is the ballpark, which would still make the next hire one of the highest paid guys in the sport

How do you know Schloss was looking for a pay raise?

He might of been trying to leverage something else. Like more money to pay assistants. Wasn't the TCU pitching coach in discussions to become the next Rice head coach then recently pulled his name from the discussion? Umm....

Or Maybe he wants to build some new training facilities or a bigger park.

The dollar figure Mississippi State was or wasn't offering might not of even mattered to Schloss. Just the fact that it was a program that the TCU AD thought was legit threat to hire away Schloss.
