Personally, I want Gautreau to be promoted, if we go assistant route.

Tadlock has multiple CWS appearances at Texas Tech. He is proven.

Then why would he leave Texas Tech when he's in position to make his 3rd trip to Omaha in 5 years?

I said just a minute ago I think he turns us down; but offer him $1.7M and make him say no.

Throw $1.7M at him

Yes, please pay someone nearly half a million dollars more a year than any college baseball contract ever given to a college baseball coach ever. Cohen at his peak never got close to making $1m, and Cannizaro’s contract averaged to $533,333k yearly. In what world does State pony up to pay someone more than 3x what they were paying Cannizaro?

What makes you think State is going to pay 1.7 M a year for a coach?

Why would Schlossnagle have even talked to Cohen if State wasn't willing to pay that kind of money? You think Cohen called Schloss and offered him a pay CUT to come to Starkville? I don't think that would have been a very long conversation.

Professional courtesy... State isn’t going to pay someone $500k+ more than anyone else in the world is paying, especially when that world hasn’t even gotten to the $1.5m mark yet

So you know how long the conversation between Cohen and Schloss was?

because Mississippi State is a program that would probably over Schloss a raise and he could use that to get something he wants from TCU.

I've just never understood this mindset. I think coaching searches would be much more productive if programs simply went after realistic candidates from the word go. This notion to just offer coaches a sack of money honestly doesn't work more times than often. All it does is delay your search, hurt your chances with other more realistic candidates, and make your AD look incompetent. Believe me, I am speaking from experience

Baseball, in particular, isn't a sport where you necessarily need a coach with decades of experience to make a great hire. There are a lot of mid-major guys out there who always have great clubs that would jump at the opportunity to coach at an SEC program.

Are you trying to say that Coaches/Agents use other job openings to try and get raises?

yep, Kevin O'Sullivan signed the biggest deal in college baseball following the 2016 for $1.25MM. Although, no one knows how much Corbin is paid because his contract details don't have to be released to the public with Vandy being a private school.

"allegedly." TCU didn't release the details of his contract. It is all conjecture on how much he's actually paid
