You have NO IDEA what we will pay.

I’m pretty sure anyone who thinks State is going to offer $1.7m to anyone is the one in the dark here. Even if State signed someone to the most lucrative college baseball contract ever drafted, it still wouldn’t be $1.7m. The market price for largest contract hasn’t even crossed $1.5 yet, and no one has ever gotten one of these mega contracts to join a new school. They’ve all been extensions, such as for McDonell and Schloss, who set records with their extensions and decided not to come to Starkville

We have an interim that's in a super regional while the Bianco who has been there 18 years is sitting at home.

Only way I'm down with that is if it's to let Gautreau be HC in waiting and let Henderson mentor him. Henderson has done so much little league garbage management all year it's ridiculous.

And y’all are going to remove the interim tag for probably around $600k a year, which is completely reasonable and not something insane like offering a contract amount no one on God’s green earth would ever offer

yep, Kevin O'Sullivan signed the biggest deal in college baseball following the 2016 for $1.25MM. Although, no one knows how much Corbin is paid because his contract details don't have to be released to the public with Vandy being a private school.

Rumors is Schloss makes more than that. 1.4 M is the number i read, but no one knows for sure since its not public.

Everyone's road to the Supers is different. Tennessee Tech can hit and might of been a better hitting team than any of the teams in the Tallahassee Regional.

Your point means nothing.

So you know how long the conversation between Cohen and Schloss was?

The conversation with Schloss lasted at least a week. He admitted after their season ended that he was talking to State, and he didnt' officially say he wasn't taking the job until this past Monday. Yes, Cohen was in Destin during a lot of that time, but ballpark salary has to be one of the first issues if you're trying to lure a guy like Schlossnalge from his current position.

In reality, the conversation with Schlosnagle or his agent (if he has one) had probably been going on since Cann was fired. Just an initial feeler to see if Schloss had interest and if MSU was willing to pay what it would take to get him. If those initial conversations had not been fruitful, Schlossnagle never would have even admitted he was talking to State.

. I think coaching searches would be much more productive if programs simply went after realistic candidates from the word go. This notion to just offer coaches a sack of money honestly doesn't work more times than often.

Agreed.

We didn’t go after Corbin just because some DA started a thread about him.

And UT didn't actually go after Gruden either.

Well, yeah, if State does not hire one of the really big names, then they probably won't pay over $1M. The top dollar was to try to entice Schlossnagle, McDonnell, or whoever else may have been in line. If those guys don't take the job, then less money will be offered to other candidates.

Do you work in the Mississippi State AD office or something? That is a whole lot of speculation otherwise.

It's really all common sense, but if you want then just hang on to the discussion lasting a week, which we know is true. If State wasn't even in the ballpark financially, that conversation wouldn't have even lasted a week.

Do you think Cohen hired Moorhead after just one interview in Atlanta? No, Cohen contacted Moorhead weeks before Mullen had even taken the Florida job to guage Moorhead's interest and financial expectations. Its the way this business works.

I mean it’s pretty obvious. He stated that he had a conceversations with Cohen then a week later took his name out. Connect the dots. I don’t know about talks from february.
