Who wins and why?

2008 Alabama had UF on the ropes in the SEC title game, until Tebow had a fourth quarter of a lifetime. Why wouldn't a more talented and developed 2011 Alabama finish the job?

Bama.
Defense wins it.

Alabama. Comfortably. 2008 Florida lost to Ole Miss and 2011 Alabama had one of the best defenses of all-time.

unless hightower inadvertantly facemasks a guy after stopping him short on 3rd down AGAIN, uf loses to 08 bama

'11 'Bama. I think Harvin could cause some fits, but ultimately, the pressure that 'Bama would bring would make Tebow more uncomfortable than he was in '09. A pretty underrated guy on the '11 team was Nick Gentry. For a d-lineman, he was quick for his size and wrecked havoc in the backfield. Another factor, while it was very very talented led by Andre Smith, I just think Alabama's o-line in 2011 was much more physical and better in pass protection.
UF would have the advantage though with their db's going up against Alabama's WR's. Maze, Bell, and Hanks were respectable at best. Brad Smelley came onto the scene late in the year, but I'd think a guy like Spikes could keep up with him.
Richardson and Lacy in the backfield vs Florida's front 7 would be intriguing.

08 UF in a close, low scoring game.
Alabama's offense in 2011 is very much overrated. If they're even rated highly. I think Florida's defense handles Alabama most of the game, limiting Trent Richardson to under 100 yards.
Florida may not be able to score much on Alabama's defense, but Harvin hits enough big plays and Tebow muscles his way through a few 3rd and 1's to get the 17-20 points needed to win.

Just doing the Whatif sports program it looks like the home team wins most times. It would be a good game.
Neutral field FL won most but just barely.

Bama would give up yards and a TD early. Bama makes adjustments, shuts down the run game, and makes Tebow beat them with his arm. Tebow was a phenomenal college QB, but I don't think he has the arm to beat that Bama defense

That '08 SECCG was as physical of a game as I've seen. 2011 LSU/Alabama was more physical, but that '08 game was up there. Florida had a rare combination of a high scoring offense with a speedy physical receiver in Harvin and a heisman winning QB, and a strong speedy defense led by Joe Haden, Spikes, and Dunlap.

I think a key question would be is the game played at the beginning of the year or the end? Because Alabama's offense adapted and really broke out after the first LSU game when the coaching staff adjusted and let loose a little bit.

2011 Alabama was #2 in the conference in total offense and #3 in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 430 yards a game and 35 points per game respectively. How is that overrated?

I would say the weapons aren't as dangerous as your typical Alabama offense. Maze was our supposed #1 receiver that year. While dangerous, he's hardly a receiver you have to really stay up and plan for or put two men on.

florida wins a 24-13 type game.

We were more of a power run team in 2011 anyway. Richardson was our main weapon and was complimented by Eddie Lacy as well as a consistent passing game.
We had one of the best offensive lines in college football as well as one of the best defenses in living memory. We did not need a dangerous weapon on the perimeter like we have needed in recent seasons.

2011 Bama wins this easy

Lol Trent Richardaon and Ingram ate their lunch. It would be no different with Richardson as head man and an All-Pro RB in eddie Lacy playing right behind him.
I don't think the game is won comfortably by either team, but I do believe the likes of Spikes and Haden and Dunlap would not be enough to beat out backfield. Especially since the 2011 team didn't have Julio Jones. The ball would be run a lot more.

Um, that's how these type of questions work. 2011 Alabama was made up of upperclassmen that major contributors on the 2008 team. 2008 UF is just still 2008 UF. Now, ask about 2008 USC or 2008 Oklahoma versus 2011 Alabama, and it is a completely different question. But carry on.
