My map is the only one that matters. It's their native range.
Ornamental cultivation has led to further expansion of their range.
Southern Magnolia isn't native to frickin Tennessee, Missouri or Kentucky. They would be the first on the chopping block if I was commissioner.

Any school from a state not on this map shouldn't even be considered in expansion talks
There's over 25 states on this map, you want to include all those schools?
Maybe you might want to narrow it down to something like "Any state outside the magnolia tree range needs to be kicked out!"

Southern live oak with Spanish moss is more iconic than the southern magnolia.
Southern yellow pine varieties are the backbone of the Southern forestry/lumber economies and ecosystems.
I'd have the magnolia in the same tier as the bald cypress both ahead of the Sabal Palmetto.
All of this is to say, I can't wait for silly thread season to end and football to begin.

I was gonna say, the Southern Magnolia is pretty common here. My grand mothers house had a massive one out front and the house I bought my mom a few years ago had a massive one next door to it. Both here in Tulsa.

The Rice guy is correct in that in MOST Of the state... the Magnolias are ornamental. But they will grow in SE Oklahoma naturally. But to be fair, they were probably imported in and were able to establish themselves... sort of like the damn kudzu...
