Auburn held the alltime series at the time and Auburn won 6 out the first 7 and 7 out the first 10 Iron Bowls.

I think the obvious answer is Bama didn't want to raise Auburn's profile by playing them, but I'm not expert.

Bama didn't wanna see Auburn in 1913 or 1914...they would've got smashed very bad. The 1914 Auburn team is the only team in NCAA who didn't give up a single pt on defense.

I don't think Auburn or Alabama or any team for that matter had much of a profile in the early 1900's. However, Alabama was reluctant to resume the series in the late 1940's in part because of that reason. Governor and Legislature had to drag Bama back to the table and get both sides to agree because the people wanted the game to resume. I believe Auburn was eager to start playing again....Bama not so much.

AU won 7 of the first 12, but was 1-3-1 in the last 5 before the split.
Donahue was hard core. He didn't believe that teams should be allowed to have more than one man with the option to run the ball, and he didn't believe that players needed more than .50 per day for food, train fare, and lodging in Birmingham.
Honestly, though, he was a hell of a defensive coach. Those 1913 and 1914 teams were light years ahead of their southern competition.

Many teams. Texas A&M did it in 1917 and 1919.

Why the frick does your timeframe end 3 games before the series took a break? Auburn won 5 of the last 10 before the break. Also, what I said was correct: Auburn only won one of the previous 5 before the break. I gave credit for AU's early success, and I realize you wish it was more lopsided, but don't just make up totally arbitrary time frames.

So Auburn was 7-3-1 and Bama was 3-7-1...like I said auburn was kicking that tail.

ok either way it goes if you want to add a game Auburn still was beating that tail and that is a fact. Auburn literally forced Bama to get their best coaches ever. its amazing that both Saban and Bear came to bama after 5 game losing streaks to Auburn.
