He is a placeholder until Saban retires. No one else is winning the sec, so might as well save money for the next one.

LSU fired Les Miles midway through the season because they were worried he might temporarily save his job for another year by winning a bunch of games down the stretch against subpar competition. Ironically, they ended up hiring a coach who did just that.
I wonder if you'd be thinking about LSU tonight if LSU didn't fire Les. You probably would be.

You typed all that out?

If Les was still at LSU we lose to Ole Miss and Arkansas as well.

Those games might've looked a little different with Les, but when you consider how easily we ran on them, those would've been tailor-made wins for him.

Because somehow we only interview 2 people in a multiple month head coach search

The effort some Bama fans put forth concerning LSU is awesome.

Because he's the cheapest coach in the SEC, he'll probably recruit well enough to get to 8 wins a year which is enough for the administration to justify not firing him (8 wins and a Cajun accent is enough for the facebook fans) and keeping the cheapest coach in the SEC.

Because our fans would rather a mascot rather than a competent head coach.

They wanted to give the hometown boy his dream job!

The real reason was to distract everyone from just how terrible we are in basketball this year.

So why did LSU hire Ed Orgeron again?
Simple, so we could hire a new offensive coordinator.
Thanks for your interest in the program.

Fournette isn't good

Les would have beaten Ole Miss.
Who knows about Arkansas. They weren't the same team this year than the last two seasons. Their run defense sucks. Miles could have ran the ball a ton and beaten them. Hard to know.
LSU could have actually had a better record this season under Miles. 9-3 wouldn't shock me. 8-4 more likely. However, it was good that the move was made. The program was reenergized. Any wins under Miles wouldn't have looked as aesthetically pleasing as they did under Orgeron.

16 carries 280 yds is pretty damn good.

This thread is tired but Les would not have lost to those two teams this year. They are not good.

He lost one game that LSU should have won by 7 to 10 pts. Unfortunately for CEO miscues and poor focus did him in against Florida.
May turn out to be a bad hire but looking at this season u can't make that assumption. CLM's record in the SEC west the last 4 years was poor. CEO is 3-1, and that's with an interim OC and no offseason to prepare with.
But maybe you are a fortune teller.
