That's where coaching buyouts always come from. From what we're hearing, one Landry supporter is covering both Kelly's and Woodward's buyouts.

Start pulling that shite from state university funds and see what happens.

Who is "they"? The taxpayer? It's free, right? Just like food stamps.

A billionaire donor has agreed to pay the buyout.

Everything that has happened at LSU over the last week isn’t anything that hasn’t happened before in college athletics. It’s probably relatively tame by comparison to many instances of politicians, boosters, etc stepping in and throwing weight around. The difference is that Louisiana is an overly dramatic states. They can’t keep from airing their dirty laundry and being overly flamboyant about it. That is particularly true with their politicians. Just my opinion.

Which is why the HC gig seems incredibly unattractive. It was very attractive until Landry ran his mouth.

Woodward was elite at everything except picking the right football coach at A&M and LSU. All his other hires at all his jobs were great. He was elite at bringing in money to the schools he was at. He was great getting top notch athletic facilities built. Plus he was an LSU guy so he would’ve stayed

He hired Sarkisian at Washington which was a good hire. He brought in Chris Peterson which was a good hire. The Jimbo hire made sense and in some ways was a good choice. Kelly was a bad choice, but probably the highest profile coach available at the time. Hiring the right football coach is hard

So as much as people want to hate on Woodward, he’s actually a big loss. Bringing in a new president is already challenging. Now you need to find the right AD which will take valuable time. And the new AD should hire the coach, but it looks like that won’t happen and hopefully this ends up being a huge disaster that sets LSU back years

It's weird. You made the comment below, which is completely in line with what I said:

quote:

This is not complicated people. The AD that hires a coach for 10 mill a year for 10 years with a massive buyout at LSU, better hope that coach delivers. Because their fates are tied together; especially after what was witnessed in TS last Saturday night.

If you do not want that risk, then do not take that job.

But used that as a follow-up to the statement below, which would seem to mean you disagree with my statement:

quote:

Tell me you do not know how this works without telling me you do not know how this works....

Not sure how to respond to someone who agreed with my point while claiming to disagree with me in the same post.

Probably should have kept BK until season was over i

BK knew that if he pushed back on firing Sloan and popped off at the mouth... then he would likely get fired. It was a strategic move by BK.

I refuse to believe he didn't offer that contract without being paid under the table. It's such a dumb deal, that's the only way it makes sense

Here's $100mm Kelly, be sure to underperform and I'll fire you after 3 years, 90% will be guaranteed. On the backside, I want 15% via shady real estate deals or some bullshite

Landry is just a show pony. He just wants publicity. If he just keeps his mouth shut none of this would’ve been as big of a deal as it is. Everyone thought Woodward should’ve gotten canned.

Looking for clarification…

Did Woodward resign, or was he fired?

Does that distinction impact Woodward’s buyout?

I'm not sure that anyone knows the answers to these questions.

I will be completely honest, I really don't care about any of this shite. LSU will get a coach and he will be compensated well. I will cheer my jailhouse boobies off for that coach every game.

You act as if your aggies have been at the top of the SEC every year, LOL.

But whatever... aggies and Belko will finish the season with the same number of nattys as LSU & BK.

No retard. "They" is the athletic program which is separate from the school and is self funded and donates at the end of every year millions to the school. What Landry was freaking out about was that the contract did in fact leave them exposed, but that didn't matter as the buyout was covered by some big money boys. The taxpayers have nothing to do with this. Stop being so easy to manipulate with media.
