I'm with you. He's definitely not at the top of my list. I just think it's funny that rant tards don't think he'd be interested

Not sure Mullen really cares about a raise at this point. He is making just south of 5 mil.

He has the program like he wants it, a good staff, great facilities, great fans, talent has slowly gotten better, and appears it will be even better in the next several years.

Maybe a lesson to our SEC friends is here. Show some patience with your coaches. I think a head coach should get 6-8-10 years before you think about yanking the chain on him. Ride some of the low/bad times out and enjoy the good times when they come.

Continuity and stability count for a lot today and it also helps your recruiting as well.

Maybe if we were in the 80's or 90's, possibly so.

Why would he be interested? Who wants to go to a program where the boosters run the program? Knoxville isn't what it used to be. He may leave State next year, but it won't be for Tennessee.

Mullen would not consider UT a better job than he currently has. Florida probably.

Coaches are lining up for a job they know they will be fired from mid-season and rebuilding is not allowed.

"good times" for State means 8-4 or 9-3.

I have said I do not think he will go to another SEC school if/when he leaves but maybe ND or the NFL or some other northern college team. His family loves Starkvegas, kids are growing up in a great environment, wife likes it there.

UT is not what it used to be.

This is my first time here for a Vols coaching search. I have 4 honest questions:
1. Will your fanbase lose their mind if a big name coach isn't hired?

2. Are there actually fans that are wanting Lane back?

3. After seeing the garbage heap that the team has become, what are your expectations for next season regardless of the hire?

4. What percent actually think its Gruden?

I know. It's a better job now than it's ever been for several reasons. Very good point

Want? Not really. Would take over the last 8 years of dog shite? Yeah, probably

Bowl game, but nothing crazy. The team has talent, but they need to learn how to win.

Seriously? 4% On the Internet? 94%

1. It will be a big name
2. Yes, there are some that would welcome him back, but they realize that bridge is burned. He's just mainly hated by the Simpreds.
3. I think we could be good next year. The talent is there, the problem is(the reason Butch got fired) they haven't been coached well or developed.
4. Maybe 30%

Why should he be? he can lose to Alabama and finish 3rd or worse in division already and the fans and AD will be happy.

I honestly don’t think Mullen would leave State for TN. It’s really sweet that TN fans still think of their team as a powerhouse, but entering freshmen weren’t even alive in 1998.

Really. It does not appear to be a very good job at all at the present time.

Since 2007, UT has been a middle of the pack School in the SEC, fan base has become delusional to the point that now it is hurting their own recruiting. Players do not want to play somewhere that treats the coaches and players so harshly when they lose.

When the fan base exercises some patience and allows the coach to develop his program, they may become successful again.

If Mullins wants a run at a national title then he would have a better shot at it at UT. They have everything they need . Just need a coach now to put it all together. I think- Mullins could do it. But, he may be content at MSU where 8-9 wins gets you a pass. As we've seen, that shite don't fly in Knoxville. Tennessee has been to the top and have been a perennial national power. Once you've had that, average just don't get it. The UT AD has little choice but to get this hire right. TSIO will be great again.
