Didn’t Mullen pay his own way for an interview at Miami 2 years ago? I also believe he’s interviewed for the Orgeron, Penn St, Michigan job. Not saying he wants to leave or anything.... lol.

If a coach ever wanted to coach big time college football...

He needs to put in a couple years at a mid tier school like UT first.

Really. It does not appear to be a very good job at all at the present time.

Since 2007, UT has been a middle of the pack School in the SEC, fan base has become delusional to the point that now it is hurting their own recruiting. Players do not want to play somewhere that treats the coaches and players so harshly when they lose.

When the fan base exercises some patience and allows the coach to develop his program, they may become successful again.

Hahahahaha, uh huh

That's funny coming from a Cock. Y'all are decent but y'all are no Georgia, Florida or Tennessee. Those three are the big time, name brand programs out of the East. The rest of y'all are fed crumbs.

Meh. Muschamp put in some time at a comparable mid tier program and now he's finally coaching at a big time program.

Tennessee’s football coaching search officially got underway with Sunday’s firing of Butch Jones.
The Vols (4-6, 0-6 Southeastern Conference) lost for the sixth time in eight games with Saturday night’s 50-17 loss at Missouri. First-year Tennessee athletic director John Currie announced the firing Sunday afternoon a little before 2 Eastern, with a press conference scheduled for 5.

Here’s what we’re hearing about Tennessee’s coaching search so far:
Multiple sitting Power 5 head coaches have expressed interest in the Vols’ vacancy.
Most notably, according to sources that spoke with GoVols247, have been Mississippi State’s Dan Mullenand Oregon’s Willie Taggart.
It’s also understood that multiple highly respected Power 5 assistants have shown interest in the job. Sources have also hinted that there could be a current NFL coach who would listen if Tennessee called, though that name has not yet been disclosed.
Though it officially got underway on Sunday, Tennessee’s search has been active for over a month now, and the coaching community has been treating this job as an open one for at least that long.
According to a source, Currie began vetting Central Florida head coach Scott Frost while his UCF team played at Cincinnati on Oct. 7, the same weekend Tennessee had its bye week.
Frost, one of the hottest coaching names in college football right now, has UCF undefeated at 9-0. The Golden Knights were 0-12 in 2015, the year before Frost arrived in Orlando. It’s been widely reported that Frost is also near the top of Florida’s wish list.
Mullen, the second longest tenured head coach in the SEC, makes $4.5 million per year at Mississippi State, where he is 68-45 since taking over in 2009. His buyout has not been disclosed.
Taggart, making $2.9 million in his first season as head coach at Oregon, has the Ducks 5-5 through 10 games.
Taggart spent four seasons at South Florida (2013-16), going 24-25, including an 11-2 record last season. He was at Western Kentucky for three seasons (2010-12), with a 17-20 record.

but you do realize sitting coaches use these openings all the time to milk a raise out of their schools don't you?

Exactly. These rumors are nothing more than Sexton leveraging a raise for his client. If Mullen were to leave Starkville, it would be for more fertile recruiting grounds. Knoxville does not qualify.

As much as I personally enjoy it....Tenn being an absolute dumpster fire is bad for the SEC as a whole.

VOLOL need to get their shite together.

Don't frick it up...like LSU did.

But, he may be content at MSU where 8-9 wins gets you a pass.

As we've seen, that shite don't fly in Knoxville.

Ok Rip Van Winkle, TN fans would be blowing Butch a midfield if he averaged 9 wins per year.

UT was a premier job in the SEC in 2008. Now its a shell of its former self. They are the #2 most delusional fan base behind LSU.

UT would have to outbid MSU, and if they wanted him badly enough they could. Honestly, I think he’d be a homerun hire but many of the Vol fans wouldn’t.
UT has great facilities. MSU is doing a great job at upgrading theirs.
Florida, though a much greater recruiting base than either MSU or UT, has a long, long way to go to get their facilities up to top-tier status.
Don’t know if he’s leave for UT or not unless the money was too good to say no, but if I was making the hire he’d be way ahead of Taggert or Frost on my list.

Well it appears you Dawgs have had Mullins average nuts all down your throats to notice that Jones average tenure got his arse run out of Knoxville.

It is a much better job now than it was in 2008. I appreciate the effort though

Mississippi State is in for some good times. With OM tanking and licking their wounds for a decade, The State of Mississippi will be a one horse state.

Besides, State will be strong as acid next year and Dan knows it.
