The plot of land itself is nothing special without OM fans trying to impress you with reheated Publix chicken fingers on fine China and pretending that they're in a country club at a private Southern Ivy League rather a low-ranked public school that's actually quite poor.

Ole Miss claims its 10 acres, it's probably more like 6 acres.

Think the Grove is 6.8 acres and the circle is around 3

I hate Ole Miss but I'd love to go to a road game there to experience the tailgate.

Idk what you're expecting going there in the middle of summer when school's out and none of the sports are in season. If I go to the Parade Grounds or the lots around Tiger Stadium right now they'd all be empty and unimpressive too.

“The Grove” does have connotations of something more than the “ parking lot” or the “ empty space” which is what all the other universities have tailgating in …

All universities have tail gating and a major tail gating headquarters..so that aspect is a given everywhere

So if “ the grove “ is an empty field why is it hyped up???

The Grove is basically a park on campus with stately trees and a beautiful ambience. I always heard it was 8 acres.

I am a State guy but part of the reason we developed “The Junction “ was because of what Ole Miss had in “The Grove “. Similar to Ole Miss creating their outfield lounge because of the Left Field Lounge at Dudy Noble.

But as most of guys , noted it is the PEOPLE that make the place special during a “Autumn Saturday “.

Daughter there for orientation? I'd tell you what's about to happen but I assume you likely are already aware

To those ask me what the hell I was doing there, I was driving through the area and thought I would go a bit out of my way to check it out. Would you have preferred I drive past?

At Ole Miss. People typically talk highly about it. So I supposed to be impressed right? Just checking

I was there for the LSU game in 07. We were in the middle of the Grove at some in-law's tailgate.
I was very impressed.
It's a much smaller number of tailgates than we see sprawled all over the LSU campus.
But they do it very well in the Grove.

Dude, walking thru the Grove in July is not the same as game day. You're missing out seeing all the fans eating McDonalds chicken nuggets on fine china.

Not sure what you were expecting with a post like that, but we really don't give a frick whether you went or not.

We would prefer you to be smart enough to cipher out why it would be a different experience than on a gameday. But that didn't happen either... so you posted about an empty field.

Now you're wondering why people are being mean to you. Life's a bitch and this isn't a safe place.

No. I would prefer for you to STFU until you attend an actual tailgate there.

The Junction? I am making my first trip to Starkville this year so I might check it out on gameday.

And to the topic, the Grove is a fun experience. People were really hospitable. But I did get a little tripped up winding through all of the tents crammed in together after drinking all day. It was a night game when I last visited. Great people though and the hospitality is was I recall the most.

Oh yeah, the Grove really know how to tailgate, with their plastic trays of finger sandwiches they bought at Walmart

So classy!
