Okay
Section 1.2 of the SEC Constitution cited in the article.
quote:
*1.2 PURPOSES
The purpose and mission of the Southeastern Conference is educational within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code. Intercollegiate athletics programs provide fundamental lessons in leadership and teamwork, and about winning and losing that
have an irreplaceable role in the greater world of business, government, military, and academic pursuits. In no event shall the Conference
engage in any activity or take any action inconsistent with its educational purpose and mission, and nothing in this Constitution, or in
the Bylaws or Regulations, shall authorize any such activity or action.
To further its educational purpose and mission, the Conference shall direct and organize interscholastic athletic competitions, conduct
tournaments, and prescribe eligibility rules for contestants. The Conference shall also facilitate and assist its member institutions in
maintaining intercollegiate athletic programs compatible with the highest standards of education and competitive sports. Through the
orderly enactment and enforcement of legislation, the Conference aims:
(a) To encourage sound academic practices for student-athletes;
(b) To foster strong competition among the teams of its member institutions in a broad spectrum of amateur sports and championships;
(c) To assure proper emphasis on the funding of athletic activities;
(d) To stimulate good sportsmanship;
(e) To provide leadership and a voice in the development of public attitudes toward intercollegiate sports generally; and
(f) To address the future needs of athletics in a spirit of cooperation and mutual benefit of the member institutions and their student-
athletes. [Adopted: 6/15/06]
SEC Constitution and By Laws
In your opinion, which of these conditions did LSU violate or not follow relative to the other members of the SEC and how?

My point, vague allegations without substance. Lacks specificity, SEC will have to explain in detail. If not, suit is subject to dismissal.

LSU kissed the ring.

You couldn’t be more wrong. And it’s why they filed the lawsuit and why we are here today. They wanted LSU to hold a press conference and admit guilt and back the SEC. That’s coming from sources inside the LSU building.
LSU told Sankey to go frick himself…

Maybe true...but, the problem Sankey and the SEC have is that is likely a universal statement for many of the member schools that if those collective issues come to light (more than already has in the recent TRO/Professional Players issues at other schools) then it undermines the entire SEC position.
Arbitrary and capricious enforcement just doesn't work. Seems like the SEC wanted to draw a line in the sand and finally enforce it. The problem is it isn't even consistently enforcing that against all member schools that step over it or even get close to it. What will they do to the recently rostered Ole Miss basketball player that doesn't check all of the boxes for elgibilty according to the recent clarifications?

Dude, I'm not the one saying it. The SEC is saying it. You and I don't know any more than what is being reported. None of us have any idea about what has transpired other than what ESPN and other outlets are reporting. My guess is that it's a lot deeper than we all know.

He had his oppurtunity to prove that in court.
Not sure the SEC has to prove every single thing in a court of law in order to levy internal penalties. Pretty sure the member institutions all have to agree to abide by conference rules that may not apply to other conferences or the public in general and accept judgements assessed but the governing body, even if a court of law may say something different.

Pretty sure Sankey didn't just wake up one day and decide to go after LSU for no reason...

Pretty sure Sankey didn't just wake up one day and decide to go after LSU for no reason.
I don't think we want a precedent that allows conferences to just threaten and/or impose punishment without explanation.
How would you like it if the SEC went after Georgia in public, making vague accusations with no explanation?

No, and that's why I don't continue the discussions. I'm not arguing over which rule LSU broke over and over when the right answer is rejected due to the bias of LSU fans who want to rewrite history.
The answer isn't rejected due to LSU bias, it's rejected because it's simply not factual.
People have tried to help you understand this, but you so desperately want it to be true, that you just reject the actual facts and parrot your false narrative over and over.

I believe LSU is 100% guilty of everything the SEC has said of them. How that plays out remains to be seen.
Absolutely, you've made up your mind already, facts be damned. At least you admit it.

Which is why LSU fans keep asking which specific rule was broken and no one can ever provide an answer.
It's also why this lawsuit will be dismissed.

There's probably a lot more to it than just that. None of us have the specifics regarding what went on behind closed doors between Sankey and the LSU AD...but I'll bet it wasn't good. I doubt Sankey just decided to go after LSU for no reason. I'd just caution the LSU fans about the "we didn't do anything" defense. There's a lot more to this than we know.

Oh, I absolutely believe that. The problem is all the LSU fans thinking they know every detail and say stuff like "prove it". Well, we can't. All we can go off of is what we see in the news.
Someday, this baw may understand that he doesn't have to depend on "the news", he can read the lawsuit and subsequent filings for himself.
Or maybe not, who knows?

I don't know what is going to come of this situation, but one thing I am quite certain of is that Lane is going get LSU in a lot of serious trouble before he's done. LSU fans should be very concerned instead of circling the wagons to protect a guy who just got there and within a few months has the conference threatening to throw the school out.
The SEC has rules about coach conduct. They have an enforcement arm. If Lane has done something so horrible, why hasn't the SEC moved to punish him for these supposed violations?
Same question for Wade.
The reality is that the SEC has no case at this time against those two coaches other than hurt feelings. They can't suspend/fine them for anything.
