LSU din't do nuffin'....

I don't know what is going to come of this situation, but one thing I am quite certain of is that Lane is going get LSU in a lot of serious trouble before he's done. LSU fans should be very concerned instead of circling the wagons to protect a guy who just got there and within a few months has the conference threatening to throw the school out.

LSU fans are not circling the wagons for Lane. We can all just plainly see the outright hypocrisy by Sankey on this situation and you and others are burying their heads in the ground and refuse to look. He’s just picking and choosing what injunctions and what court orders to follow. Allowed a professional nba player to play at Bama and did jack shite about.

And none of you can give any kind of argument when it’s brought up….

So now we kicking teams out the SEC because they may have rostered a professional player and I use that term loosely b/c Harris didn’t practice a single snap in a saints uniform unlike the Texas lineman, but Sankey didn’t do a jack shite to Bama after they actually rostered and played a professional nba player in college games.

One team contemplated ‘breaking the rules’ based on a judges order and should be punished, another team actually broke the rules and absolutely nothing happened.
Some real idiots on here…..

Y'all need to stop playing the "what about them" defense. I am quite sure there is a lot of stuff that has happened behind the scenes that we don't know about to make the LSU situation different that the others. I doubt Sankey just woke up one day and decided to persecute LSU.

LSU: we will obey the law- whatever that is. Same as we have always done.

SEC & Sankey: No. You will DEFY the law to obey our rules or ELSE.

LSU: Ok- sounds kind of over the top - and many current players - like Chambliss- are playing under TPO’s-so there is a precedent to obey the courts-but-we will obey your rules by defying the law.

SEC & Sankey: Now you’ve gone and done it! Sue LSU!

Did LOLSU get punished? Did I miss something?

They're incurring legal fees over a lawsuit in which the Alabama couirt has no jurisdiction and was moot to begin with, so yes. I wish the federal court would Rule 11 Sankey's arse.

Oh, I absolutely believe that. The problem is all the LSU fans thinking they know every detail and say stuff like "prove it". Well, we can't. All we can go off of is what we see in the news. The SEC is claiming a lack of institutional control stemming from the LSU basketball and football team attempting to bring in some professionals. There's probably a lot more to it than just that. None of us have the specifics regarding what went on behind closed doors between Sankey and the LSU AD...but I'll bet it wasn't good. I doubt Sankey just decided to go after LSU for no reason. I'd just caution the LSU fans about the "we didn't do anything" defense. There's a lot more to this than we know. And based on Kiffin's track record, it is unlikely that he truly din't do nuthin'.

So just ‘attempting’ to bring in professional players is grounds for lack of institutional control while Bama actually PLAYED a professional nba player in college games and nothing happened. NOTHING. Ole Miss is currently playing a player with NO eligibility left and nothing is happening and you dont see a problem with this? Not one SEC rule was broken by LSU.

Think about what you are saying lol. Think long and hard about your argument for a minute.

Then by definition of this rule, every player in the NCAA that receives a monetary benefit through revenue sharing is deemed ineligible by the NCAA and, therefore, the SEC.

I guess it's time to just shutdown all of college athletics then? Or, will the SEC take action against all of its members that are providing rev share to its athletes?

Prove it in court if you're going to file a damn lawsuit. There are rules of evidence. We have evidence that several other SEC teams are currently rostering or have rostered numerous players the NCAA has ruled ineligible, without any consequence from the SEC. What evidence does the SEC have against LSU? Why shouldn't we walk out on this bullshite conference right now?

And the lawsuits can't exist in the first place without a school such as LSU showing interest in them to start with.

Did the other SEC schools that showed interest in any of the athletes in the Pyburn case receive the same treatment, threats and/or lawsuit from the SEC? Is showing "interest" the qualifying parameter for any of the SEC's action against a member institution?

He had his oppurtunity to prove that in court. Instead, he got on the stand tripping on his tongue and stepping on his dick. He made a mockery of the SEC on the stand under oath.

Then you say "private, voluntary organization" as if that gives the SEC the right to contravene a court order

And then it gets fuzzier and bad for the SEC once the judge decides that the SEC is not a private organization as 15/16 of it's members are made up of public universities.

It was also voted on by schools and passed 16-0.
Does that mean the SEC or its member institutions can simply disregard a court order?

Remember the timeline: this case unfolded right up against the roster deadline. The court ruling came the day before. LSU was waiting on the outcome of litigation in its own state - a case LSU didn't even bring - before making its decisions. And now, somehow, LSU is accused of lacking institutional control and potentially faces expulsion from the conference?

Let me get this straight: LSU waits for a court ruling before deciding how to proceed, making no public statements about it's decision until after the ruling, and ultimately violates no SEC rule - but, because the football coach makes a snide remark during a halftime interview, that somehow adds up to grounds for expulsion?

And here's the kicker: even if the SEC attempts to expel LSU without following its own rules and procedures, the federal judge is apparently being asked to ensure that LSU, its representatives, its student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, and NIL partners have no legal recourse to challenge the consequences.

Since when does a 16-0 vote authorize a conference to ignore court orders, punish a member for waiting on a judicial ruling, or circumvent its own governing rules - and then ask a federal court to make that punishment effectively immune from legal challenge?
