RIP to Skip. One of the greatest ever. He took LSU from the outhouse to the penthouse and they have been a behemoth ever since.

condolences. The dude was a legend in a good way (not like Paul). Rest in peace skip and thanks for elevating the sport

Actually, Joe Dean was the AD when Saban was hired as Skip was still coaching. Mark Emmert was the biggest reason Saban was hired by LSU.

back in the early 80s the SEC tournament rotated. I was in the stands, first base side, when Skip and Ron Polk came up and sat nearby during a game. I inched closer and pretended not to be interested, but that convo was gold.

Whether an LSU fan or not! College baseball as we know it today was built by Skip! We lost a titan of the sport last night. He single handedly gave administrations across D1 the blueprint of how to build & maintain a fully self sufficient college baseball program. And established a program of excellence here at LSU that will forever be his legacy! Thank you coach for all you did for the LSU Tigers! You will be missed but you will be remembered for eternity here on the bayou! Rest in Peace God rest your soul!

Will always remember that in Skip's first season. I bought 4 season tickets. behind the first base dugout. For $100 total. Over the length of the season, it came to $.25 a game ticket.
