The source you cite begins with, "This article is an opinion based on facts and is meant as infotainment. Don’t freak out."

You have lost all credibility. Furthermore, your newly created thread regarding the South is cluttering the boards. There's the door buddy, we don't need or want you here.

Communication failure for sure, hard to analyze this situation from the outside due to "can't negotiate with insanity" and it became clear the key parties were acting insane.

What's your feedback on Loftin's mishandling? overall feedback as it relates to response from the admin? Lessons galore to learn from this situation.

If Loftin had just listened to the parties who had their jimmies rustled early on, this is never a story outside of COMO. By the time Pres Wolfe was likewise failing to communicate, it was public and the genie was out of the bottle. That's my take, for what it may be worth (which is nothing).

Given how this attempt at discussion has otherwise gone off the rails, I'm done. If your administration would - or as some have claimed, has - handle it better, then good for you. Agree it would be hard to have handled it worse. My point was just that these same people are also on your campuses.

So the bullying attitudes of the left, with their aversion to free speech when it doesn't agree with their ideas, comes home to roost.

LINK Just one NOLA article, but failing to see where this was a Missouri snowflake invasion of BR. In fact, this indicates that the dude, while from Missouri, was not only a LSU alum but a then-current LSU graduate student and - since teaching classes - presumably a TA. So he didn't come down from Missouri to protest; he was already on your campus.

He is from Missouri. Spent plenty of time in Springfield. He is currently in New York and it was during finals week when he attempted this. He posted on FB he was driving down from Missouri to protest.

Maybe research more than just a news article for a change.

I have yet to see where constantly throwing more money at education has solved a damn thing.

When has Missouri (or really any other state or institution in this country for that matter) ever thrown a bunch of money at education? Our schools in MO are a mess (K-12 and post-secondary) because our state government doesn't care enough about them not to cut funding each year. There is living within your means and there is expecting MU (and again, EVERY K-12 school and public college in Missouri) to do more every year while giving less money.

We're in the midst of one of the better economic booms that our country has ever seen, and somehow in Missouri we don't have enough money to put fuel in our school buses.

What you all filled to realize is that while Mizzou is expecting a drop, other institutions are experiencing a rise in enrollment.

Grietens 82 million dollar cut affects all institutions in the state of Missouri.

Literally over 65% of his state cuts are from education. And, education in Missouri isn't something that should be getting cut.

It's pretty funny I've lived in MO most of my life, and this state is mostly conservative. MU is an embarrassment to most of us Missourians, I could care less if they closed the doors on that cesspool and Columbia is just as bad now it looks like ferguson 2.0 driving through 63 or i70.

I would like to think the non-snowflakes on LSU's campus would clear the quad without the need of the police. Some dude tried to burn an American flag on LSU's campus and was quickly removed off of it.

I think you are spot on, I just wasnt sure which
MU admin let it grow outta control.. Loftin as that guy makes sense, he has a history of being a buffoon.

Sincerely sorry that a handful of idiots caused this end result, the other 99.999% certainly didn't deserve it.

Cant say I'm surprised. Why would a minority student willingly attend a university that is so prejudiced against minorities, its president had to step down because of his failings to address the institutional racism on campus.

I fully realize the Rant is no place to attempt semi-intelligent discussion of actual issues, but ...

I almost - not really - hope one or more of your fine institutions winds up facing something like this one of these days. Yes, MU's administration handled this terribly, but there really wasn't a 'good' way to handle it. This is 2015/2017. Do you honestly believe that you can just 'clear the quad.' There are lots of snowflakes on all your campuses, too, both as students and faculty, and you'd better hope they don't get their panties in a wad over some real or perceived injustice because there's no good way to get them to quietly go away. They know the cameras are rolling, and they all want their 15 minutes of fame, and to feel like they're doing 1960's era social change, which they're not. So have your fun, bash MU every so often. But there but for the grace of God go you.

I've always been under the impression that MO was a pretty liberal state, at least "undercurrently", and a pretty mixed up one at that. Heck, two MO regiments, one on the northern side, the other on the southern side, fought against each other at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain (GA). That's pretty screwed up right there. So your flagship university, in a sense, is usually going to be a reflection of the society of the state. What happened in MO, and on that campus, is a problem that I'm glad happened there and not here. There is an element of our society that will not, or can not, listen to reason. But the powers that be cannot publicly cave to anarchy. Which is what happened at Mizoo.

Question for the mizzou people. Is this woman still employed by your university?

While I'm tempted towards the same answer as Ridgewalker, I'll take the question at face value and answer. No, she didn't have tenure and was fired about 6 months after the incident. I've not heard where, if anywhere, she has landed.

Edit - it appears she was hired by Gonzaga in 2016.
