Good article. Makes a lot of good points. The benefits of selling beer in SEC stadiums far out weigh the benefits of not, imo.

Alcohol, has been, and always will be consumed in SEC stadiums, might as well control it and make a nice chunk of change in the process.

Come on SEC, make this happen.

Sellign beer inside will not only be a massive cash flow to all schools, but will make things exponentially safer which is what the old timers don't seem to understand (until right now, apparently). At present, people chug as much as they can before going in to get their buzz where they want. This often means downing a bunch of liquor in order to keep that buzz going for a while. If they want to keep it going they sneak liquor in. This leads to people getting pretty shitfaced in part due to the fact they know they can't drink again for ~4 more hours.

If beer is sold inside, obviously you're going to have the contingent that still gets loaded beforehand because that's what they like. But you're also going to have A TON of people that will go easier beforehand with the knowledge they can get a beer or 2 inside. Concerts, pro games, festivals, trade shows, pretty much any other large scale gathering with adults have somehow been selling beer for decades without it being too much of a problem, it's insane that SEC football is so far behind the times.

I mean, I'm just going to black out before the game if they're not gonna let me drink beer inside. So this would certainly be for the best.

No, now we will just argue over who has the better beer.

Its Louisiana, by the way.

Long concession lines, $9 beers, and 3rd quarter cutoffs are why I’ll continue to bring in my bourbon

About $1.25-1.5m a year for the bigger schools

You are going to get butts in the seats earlier which will also help with concession revenue and gate crowds

There was a rumor that Budweiser offered to build the enclosed endzone and 3rd deck for UGA if they could secure beer rights inside the stadium. Thats a lot of $$

The agreement should state that National Breweries (inbve budcrap) have to pay a use tax that way more people will buy local beers and support the small instate businesses. F*** InBev and them trying to monopolize and manipulate the hops industry.

In otherwords a Tin Roof beer at an LSU game should cost 5 bucks and so should a Budweiser. That shite ain't domestic it's owned by a global corporation

LSU wasted a great opportunity with The Chute. (If you dont know, its a part inside the stadium that you can purchase and consume alcohol but cannot take it out) The problem is you have to have a ticket to the game and already be inside the stadium.

Had they made it to where it was accessible from the outside I think they would have done much better by drawing people in who go to campus just to tailgate. If I didn't have tickets I would love the opportunity to sit around watching the game on TV INSIDE the stadium.

I honestly think it’ll get more people back to the games. Attendance is down across the board. Maybe this will help change that trend.

Never had a bad one. Personally, if I'm going to be drinking it like water, I'm fine if it tastes like water too.

If I could get a pour of Keystone for like $3, I'd be all over it.

doubt it. all of these stadiums usually contract out their concessions to someone like sodexo or levy, who in turn make partnerships with companies like pepsi/coke/anheuser bush/coor millers

A&M started selling beer this year in tented off sections in corners of the stadium and im pretty sure it was all anheuser bush stuff

wait what? So you would leave your tailgate (or fight the crowds to get on campus) just to watch the game on TV inside the stadium and pay $10 a beer?

The Chute does exactly what it's supposed to do considering beer can't be sold throughout the stadium
