The only question I have about a change in the policy is a money question:

Most every school has premium seating that was sold based upon two perks: (1) a tax deduction for a "donation" that was required in order to purchase a seat; and, (2) the availability of alcohol, which wasn't available in the cheap seats. Perk #1 disappeared with the 2018 tax reform. If perk #2 is diluted, then will that adversely impact premium seat sales? If it does, it won't take much to offset the profits from beer sales. Might still be worth it if it lessens pre-game binge drinking.

If you can't do without beer for 3 hours, you might have a problem.

I agree, but I don’t think it’s really the point. People are going to drink in the parking lot, sneak it in, or drink in the comfort of their own home and watch on their OLED.

We have a pesky state law that would prohibit us regardless of what the SEC approves.

What state law?

TLDR version - I like the ban. Less drunk assholes is a good thing and I think it has helped reduce drunk driving after games.

I'm actually a fan of the alcohol ban. I mean sure people still get blitzed before the game or sneak in a flask but for the most part it's pretty rare we have full throwdowns fueled by liquid courage. Well that and the little kid who got run over and killed by an underage frat bro at a Kentucky game last year.

People have been bringing flasks to the games since the beginning of time. Nerd SEC presidents are so dumb.

At present, people chug as much as they can before going in to get their buzz where they want. This often means downing a bunch of liquor in order to keep that buzz going for a while.
WHY do you need to be buzzed or drunk to watch a football game? Why can't you enjoy it Sober?

I'm not a weak willed alcohol addict and just don't get that mentality.

Nah, beer is trashy and so are drunk people
Absolutely. I have no use for those that can't watch a sporting event without being buzzed or drunk. Too many are miserable enough in a Sober condition and can't wait to exit reality.
