They were a very old member for a long time.
They also had a player drafted this year.

That definitely makes them better than Ole Miss. so far it sounds reasonable.

Should you be asked to stick to your day job?

Yep, would even put divisions with Vandy. Send Arkansas packing since they weren’t a charter member.

Those ppl are so pretentious. Every time I visit the Tulane campus I still here snide comments about LSU. They're so butthurt and snobbish.

Lsu trying to duck A&M again. You can’t run this time.

Hell no! I actually like A&M in our conference. Mizzou, on the other hand, is too concerned with the likes of Kansas State and others to be considered SEC.
No hard feelings, Mizzou, but you're out. It's not that you're not good enough to be SEC, it's just that it doesn't fit. Even your own fan base agrees.

Yep you're right. Being embarrassed that yall bring nothing to the conference but whiny fans means I'm scared. Makes sense.

The SEC dose not ask universities to join the SEC - universities ask the SEC to let them join and TULANE will never be a member of the SEC again

Tulane is in
Tulane today does not meet the standards to be in the SEC in terms of athletics. Size of Stadium is to small, average attendance to small, etc.
Vandy is in and will not get kicked out as they are a founding member. Had Tulane not decided to leave the SEC they would be similar to Vandy.
Look at all the non P5 asking the NCAA for waivers that deal with average attendance and other issues that are needed to meet the "minimum standards" to be D1. But lets be honest, there are as we already know, the Power 5 and non Power 5 in D1 and even some P5 school while having stadiums that meet the P5 threshold, don't always have the attendance.
So while Tulane would definitely meet the academic requirements to be in any P5 league in terms of Research 1 University, endowment, etc, etc, in terms of athletics they are where they should be in the non P5 D1 ranks.
Furthermore, many of these schools like Tulane, Vandy, North Western in Chicago, etc, rely on attracting students from all over the country. I really think after the COVID-19 situation ends, many, many more students and parents are going to ask the question is it really worth paying the amount of tuition to some of these schools? Do I want to be going to school significant distances from family? Tulane gets probably 70% of its students from outside of LA. I would think Vandy gets most of its students from outside TENN.
If more and more schools move classes to remote learning as a core part of their offerings, what is the economic rationale for paying the same tuition levels for those course offerings as traditional in-class. Would anyone here pay the tuition you have to pay to go to a Tulane, Vandy, SMU, North Western, and take class via Skype or Zoom, or Proctor U, etc, etc?
Schools at the next tier, lower than Research 1, are going to face issues as well, and the further down you go with University Classifications, some of them are going to close shop, in my view.

Yep, the East has Vanderbilt (Aren't they more West geographically?) so it's only fair that the West get Tulane or Rice, give Vandy a rival

Nah son, put us in the East and make Ole Mrs. our permanent west Rival.
