Seems like the market determines the worth of elite DCS, and the decision of what to pay for one isn't up to Mr. Alleva. You would think he would pull of this tailspin if LSU could afford to.

But can we get a clause that allows us to NOT hire native drillers? That illiterate "frenchy" dialect makes me nauseous.
Only if y'all promise to let us handle any fires.

Are y'all this dumb? It's not that the money isn't there. It's that Alleva has in his mind what should be spent and it's not enough.
which MAKES MONEY AN ISSUE.
If you won't spend it and its stopping you from getting the DC you want its an issue. This isn't rocket science brah. It doesn't matter how much cash you have if you won't spend it.

Yea the state isn't ripe with oil nor does it have some of the biggest natural gas shales ever found or anything.

Having money isn't the issue as TAF is flush with green. It appears as though Alleva is hell bent on getting a bargain. It will be not only his, but also Miles' undoing. The next 48 hours are going to be very interesting.

Dude, I don't know what to tell you if you think a refusal to spend the cash on hand needed to land a DC in the current market isn't an issue.
It does not matter if you have $100 while your opponent at an auction has $70. If he is willing to spend all $70 while you are only willing to spend $50 you just made money the issue.

Exactly, the guy is just grasping at straws. It's been a rough week for him.

No, just keep your 1.7mil because if this transaction happened then you'd be expecting a gift wrapped victory next year.

As some others have said, money, or at least having the money isn't the issue. LSUs athletic department, namely football, is absolutely loaded with money. The football program loans the academic department money for gods sake. We have the richest self sustained football program in the country. They get no money from anywhere else like at most schools. The money is there.
The issue is two, perhaps three, fold. Alleva is being cheap and is an academic not a sports guy when it comes to things like this. For that reason he isn't shelling it out for this hire. Our staff is already hugely overpaid. Secondly, Miles is leaving in 2 years it appears because every detail that came out from the Chavis deal was that we wouldn't go more than 2 years guaranteed because of Miles. Thats just bad business all around and is gonna kill us in recruiting. Schools will be quick to use the Miles clause to use to turn kids away from us. Theyll say Yes is leaving whether its actual truth or not. It does appear to hold some truth. Thirdly, Alleva and Lea fricked up assuming Chavis was a lock to sign his deal. They let the assistants reup before he signed his and its hurting in the hire. What DC doesn't want room to bring some assistants with him? Its a horrible way to do business when a team is required to do the job. It makes you have to resort to bullshite and possibly horrible hires. Only people looking for a shot at DC would take the job without their own staff calls. Its smatuer hour at LSU right now.

I honestly don't understand why LSU fans even bother with this. When the jock sniffers to the west actually field a team that can compete, then maybe their opinions matter. Until then, why bother with the internet tough man competition?

Just an FYI. When Forbes ranked the football programs LSU was #4 while A&M wasn't even top 15. Like I said, the war chest is plenty full.
