To provide some context. Look at seasons with uncle Al. Competed against Ohio st, usc etc in OOC games. Powers had some big wins as well. I believe most folks view Mizzou in context of Babs years. Not many programs could have survived that.

I’m saying MU fans weren’t clamoring for the Big10. That was a narrative fabricated by the fake news media.

I’ve lived here all my life. The excitement when the SEC became interested was night and day different. Among the fans.

If you feel otherwise, sorry, you’ve been suckered by a media narrative.

You aren’t quite SEC or B10 caliber from a football standpoint. You are better than your average current Big 12 program

If you look at all time records of what’s left in the big 12 we’re actually quite a bit better and have winning records vs almost all of those programs.

We may not be upper tier SEC program but we’re firmly in the middle all time… hell some founding members here have never been to the championship game also I would argue we have been far more relevant than Aggie since joining together despite their fan base and resources.

Also collectively we’ve spent over half a billion dollars on our facilities including 300 mil+ on our football stadium through 2026.

he disappointing thing to me was the decline of your basketball program
Yeah - i'm with you on the Basketball disappointment, believe me. Things fell apart for basketball when we were still in the Big 12 though. Sure, we won the last Big12 tourney, Haith and Anderson had some good teams - but those were outliers. Too many scandals and missteps with hiring once the Norm Stewart years were over and Quinn Snyder was just too young and immature at the time (led to some of those scandals). We still have the potential there - jury is still out on Gates.

As far as the Big10 invite... The way these seem to work is "back channel" communications are used to determine mutual interest and hash out details, but no invitations are given and no applications for membership are made unless both parties know the outcome. So - it is possible the money was discussed and hypothetically offered in the back channels - we will never know for sure. All I know is it lost a lot of steam when Nixon opened his yapper. And Mizzou never formally applied and Big10 never formally offered. Turned out alright though!

there was less than a 30% chance of an invite
Just curious on the statistical process used to come up with 30%

This is 100% accurate. I too have lived here forever. It was night and day excitement for the SEC vs the Big10. For most, the Big10 felt like a way out of the Big12, but the SEC was that with a whole lot of upside and opportunity. When Mizzou fans realized it was a real possibility there was so much more support for SEC vs Big10.

I still believe Mizzou had some good fortune on their side that wasn't really due to their own actions - but that really doesn't matter, what does matter is they saw they opening and ran through it like Cody Schrader through a Tennessee defense.

Wait, wait, help me think.... Isn't Missouri the only SEC school that doesn't at least touch a southern coastal or border state? So to be southern, you can be 1st or 2nd layer inland, but 3rd layer, no?

will give you guys credit though in that you could have easily fallen to bottom dwellers but keep sticking around the top 25.

Please... They took advantage of the worst SEC east in 40 years and still couldn't get to an overall winning record. Missouri is a bottom dweller. This new money shite they think they have going on, is a house of cards, waiting for someone to bump the table. They ain't shite now, and have never been.

Riddle me this, inbred swamprat:

If Mizzou is such a bottom dweller program, why is it 2-2 all time against mighty LSU?

The Big 8 was doomed. Wouldn't have kept up with other conference media payouts. NU and OU would have started demanding unequal revenue sharing at some point, just like the B12. That's the sign of a weak conference, see ACC, soon to break apart.

Most were just happy to get out of B12 away from the B12 shitshow, but some old timers were furious about leaving our 100 year rivals, KU in particular. Fortunately we had leadership that made the SEC decision.

I decided to come up with it just like a poster came up with the idea that a governor’s words about invites is what soured the big10.

Pure luck. The last time you won, you played the worst LSU team this century and it still went to the wire. Missou and LSU play 10 times, Missou loses 8. It's just a fact.

Kinda like winning the CWS every time you go. Just pure luck.

Vs. only going there half as much as THE baseball school.

and it was in the last few years where tv households in the bundled cable tv era was more important than national ratings appeal.
emphasis mine

Finally, someone gets it!

Missouri was a great market at the time, not because Missourians' eyes were glued to their sets watching Mizzou sports, but because there were lots of reasons to buy the bundle: Cardinals, Royals, Chiefs, Blues (and yes, even Mizzou). This gave Slive incredible leverage to negotiate with ESPN (especially with the A&M market bundles).

Not sure how this would all work in today's market. But I did just see that ESPN is going to bundle their streaming for $29.99 per month. I don't think MLB is included in that stream though.

A girl I really liked in HS was an amazon. She was legitimately 6'2". She didn't play basketball but was a track athlete. Really so very pretty it was striking but just almost a walking skit because she was so big. My 5'11" arse asks her out on a date. She's a fair skinned Dane as far as genealogy, right up my alley. Just a beautiful girl and beautiful person. Great family as well. I'd go to her house to pick her up, and her whole family were large people. The Danes. Here I am the sawed-off Scottish motherfricker but as we got to know each other they accepted me as their own. The best relationship with a woman I've ever had, including my ex-marriage.

Missouri is none of that shite. You aren't interesting, pretty, or tall. You are an attachment.

You don’t actually deserve a reply Mr. 105 posts since your arrival in March. I’d like to excuse you as an alter, but no one creates an alter to spew something this fricked up.

What in the actual frick??? Lay off the crack pipe!
