Simmons is easily the top player in the league and arguably the country, unfortunately the team melted.
You can definitely make a strong argument for the league but not in the country imo.

His PER is almost 30, I mean, that's ridiculously good. Unheard of for a freshman definitely.
Currently .2 higher than even Buddy Hield's.

I don't think anyone is denying any of that but I think Hield is still leading the race.

If A&M wins the league, there is no way to justify giving it to anyone else.

Really wish Frank could win COY.That one is a tough call.

This kid tore LSU a knew a-hole. Idk how good he was his first three years, but he looked good this year.

If A&M drops one of the last two games, he will. But if A&M wins the league, it's gotta be Kennedy.

He was very average, and came out of nowhere.

Obasohan benefited from a coaching change, improving his scoring from 6.2 points per game as a junior to 17.3 this season. He also raised his averages in rebounding (2.9 to 4.1) and assists (0.8 to 2.7) while increasing his field goal percentage from 44.7 to 47.4. It's a shame he's a senior, because it would be fun to see how much Obasohan would improve with another year under Avery Johnson.

How could Simmons win POY and not FOY when he is a freshman himself?

The picture is bleak as frick for SEC basketball if Kennedy is even in the running for COY. Avery Johnson should win it

If you don't know who Seth Davis is, I legitimately question how much you know about college basketball.

Sounds about right. Ulis has been the best player in the SEC this year.

POY: Several good players this year. Ulis is really good. Simmons is also really good and would be my choice. Just my opinion. I agree with some of the posters here that if Simmons was at UK putting up the same numbers he would be a lock and is punished because of the delicious fail LSU has achieved at the end of the season. If POY was just for February I might say Murray. He was insane last month.
COY: Billy Kennedy is a good choice. Vandy and a UK were the frontrunners this year but aTm has gotten to the top and honestly looks like they may have more consistency. Frank Martin did a great job as well as did Avery.
ROY: Obviously Simmons and like others said, this award might knock him out of POY just to spread the wealth.
Most Improved: Obasohan is my choice as well thought the others mentioned have improved dramatically as well.

ROY: Ben Simmons, 6'10" forward, LSU. I realize the Tigers have underachieved this season, but it is ludicrous to blame that on Simmons
you didn't hear? Simmons has no passion, plays terrible on D, will never succeed in the NBA with no jumper, is a poor man's Odom, and can't take over games.

I dont know how it could be anyone else. You're talking about a 3 year bench player basically who was well, at best mediocre and this year is their best player unquestionably. Cant remember the last time a 4 year player was basically an afterthought the first 3 years and then their final year was not just good but very good.
