Only know what I saw sitting court side at Memorial. Simmons is the best player I have seen in that gym in 25 years as a season ticket holder. Absolute monster.

Sounds reasonable to me. No question Ulis is the best player in the league.

I disagree. Simmons is clearly the best INDIVIDUAL player in the league and his overall numbers back that up. However, if you want to make the argument that the POY should also carry his team to great success, then I certainly understand the Ulis selection and would not disagree on that basis.

I guess it's basically how you look at the award. I see it as a purely individual award i.e. who was the best PLAYER. Not the best player on the, or one of the best teams. I mean, was Scottie Wilbiken really the "best" individual player in 2014? Or did he get the award simply because he was perceived as the "best player on the best team"

I think Michael Carrera is in the running. Honestly, he is the real reason for our turnaround and his offensive numbers have increased dramatically this year.

ESPN just told that this is the 16th game this season Ulis has accounted for at least 30 points between his own personal scoring and assists.

I dont know how it could be anyone else. You're talking about a 3 year bench player basically who was well, at best mediocre and this year is their best player unquestionably. Cant remember the last time a 4 year player was basically an afterthought the first 3 years and then their final year was not just good but very good

Casey Prather, maybe? I think Retin is better than he was, but he made a similar jump from unknown to star player.

The only real difference in Retin between this year and the last few years is confidence. He's always had the ability. His sophomore year he averaged 10ppg and was averaging 15+ppg the first 10 games before he slowed down in SEC play and slumped like fricking crazy in the last 10-12 games. Had a couple bad games and went to shite. That stretch carried over into his junior season. Just goes to show the difference confidence can make.

Simmons improves all of his averages tonight with 22/14/7/2. What a letdown he is.

Simmons has also had 16-30 point games in assists and points.

Sec PoY will come down to the game at Rupp. If LSU goes 2-0 against Kentucky Simmons wins it.
