Not an Auburn fan but it looks like Chiz has lost control of the team like when Dubose did in 2000. We were supposed to have a great year his last year. Started out ranked in the top 5 but finished 3-8. When the players and assistant coaches stop believing in you its over. There's nothing you can do except wipe it all out and start over with new management.

I think TT pretty hit all the major points. Here are some of my takes:

1. Being a pussy loser has been taught to them. They have been coddled and not forged into winners. Last year, one of the Utah State coaches was quoted a few weeks after playing us that we were the softest team they have played. Utah State said we were the softest team they play. Utah State.

2. To go with the coddling, I think this has broken the team in half. I think half is team Trooper/Luper and the other half is Team Chizik and neither is good but split is just a clusterfrick of a new form of bad.

3. Chizik is meddling with stuff he shouldn't. Apparently the Bolt incident did happen and the defense started to improve. Loeffler doesn't have the balls to throw Chizik out of his offense.

4. The defense has improved, but the offense being so bad has broken moral on the defense so they have given up too.

I keep reading where Au fans say they have a ton of talent on the team; full of 4*/5* players. They were a QB away from being undefeated after the LSU game and with a new coach that they would/could win 9-10 games next year.

I just don't see great talent at all on the team. There are very few players that are above average/elite SEC players on the roster. The only player I've seen in a game and said that guy could be/is a stud was Dee Ford and he's been hurt some. Other than him not a single player has overly been impressive. Sure there are some/plenty of solid guys but the real difference makers are lacking.

I know Au has had a lot of attrition from their Top 5 classes. It would be interesting to see a list of ONLY the 4*/5* recruits that were signed on those 2 top 5 recruiting classes and a list of from those same 4*/5* that are on the team and what happened if they are not on the team.

Most of the reason have been listed but the biggest problem IMO is lack of identity on the offense and defense schemes. That's mostly due to the new OC and current coaches not buying in to that system (seems reminiscent of the Tubbs/Franklin experiment and probably will have the same result=fired head coach). The DC shouldn't have had that bad of impact but for some reason BVG has been a huge BUST on turing the D around. It has a lot to do with the players he has to work with but still he should have been able to keep them somewhat competitive.

I hope Au get's their shite together soon; not sure I can take another year of having Msst fans grinding becuase they beat Au and think they arrived.

New offensive system, new defensive system coupled with the lack of developing players throw in a couple terrible qb's and you have this shite show team

Anytime you decide that God likes your team more than others then you are doomed. It's the Dubose Syndrome.

From what i have seen, every time someone makes a good play, they are taken out of the game. Very strange... almost like its intentional.

I can't explain it. It was obvious pretty early that Wallace was our best QB yet he remained 3rd string. Sammie Coates was our biggest play maker at WR (besides Blake) yet he still doesn't start. Tre Mason is a good rb and he was only getting like 8-10 carries a game. Holland is the worst LB in the nation and still starting. We started Cassinova at LB the game before last and he played like a stud. His reward was being a bench warmer for the A&M game while Holland played. It's frustrating to say the least.

I think it is the lack of a power running back. You have to be able to run between the tackles in the SEC.

In My Uneducated Opinion:

1. QB Position -- worst position group in the SEC
2. Interior Defensive Line -- I've never seen a group consistently get dominated like our DTs have this season
3. No Leadership -- small senior class, but it's more than that.

I actually think Loeffler might be a decent OC, but the deck is just stacked against him.... no QBs, inexperienced OL, meddling head coach, etc.

4) We have a coaching staff and team divided. No doubt about it.

I believe this is the biggest thing wrong with this team. I think Chizik hiring Loefler instead of promoting Luper to OC spilt that staff. Also the fact that he didn't try to get Trotter to stay on as qb is hurting your qb situation. Now they are just about relegated to playing a true frosh.

How was it obvious?

I know Au fans are looking for anything positive to point to on their team plus you can further point fingers at Chiz. But come on, he didn't lead Au from behing for a win, he had a few good drives against A&Ms scrubs when the game was all but over. Maybe he is the future but Au fans are grasping when they say things like

Very interesting point The Rig made about the 2010 National Championship gear. I did notice Chizik wearing a lot of it last season and during pre-season practices this year. I am by no means saying he should not be proud of the accomplishment of winning a National Championship which is very important. I just don't see other coaches wearing National Championship gear. They move forward on to the next year. He might have been wearing his NC gear as a reminder to sports media and fans that he is a great coach who won a NC?

I wish I had a clear answer to give you. It's really astounding.

I've been an AU fan secondarily since my Uncle played for Shug in the 70's. I've never seen it this bad. I don't follow recruiting close enough to know if Saban has sucked the recruiting dry but I thought AU was getting very good classes. It really might be as simple as Coach Cizik, but I don't know.

AU has always been one of the most hard hitting. That's a big problem.

You are correct, definitely some of the best classes in the nation. We've been stealing players from the big boys like USC, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, etc. It seems to be the coaching when they get here. There's no other explanation, IMO, on why they aren't working out.

AU is at a huge crossroads. Money doesn't grow on trees so with a buyout and then payout for a big time HC is going to require a lot of courage and a huge gamble (there's really no sure thing). I hope it works out. Right now only Meyer and Miles have been keeping GumpNation at bay and Urban ran off like a little (expletive).

I don't think this is entirely the case. You never truly know how hard a player was recruited or what type of offer has been made to a player and just like everyone claimed to being recruited by FL ST and Miami in the 90's, the same is going on now regarding the schools you mentioned "stealing players" from.

If does seem apparent this staff for whatever reason, is perhaps the worst in the nation at developing good players. Why is anyone's guess.

It all starts at the top and if the average (non-aub)fan could see Chiz was a joke of a hire then of course the assistants would as well. I think this is why the staff as some have mentioned is divided. Gene just may not be cut out to be the boss.
