2011 LSU was great on defense and average on offense. Bama got them in the NC in a rematch, but if we played okie state they win easily.
That LSU defense held Bama to 5 fgs until 6 min left in the 4th and that was with the offense going 4 and out 98% of the time.

Because USC and OU were on another level that year. Auburn definitely felt like a distant 3rd. And then USC ended up showing just how much better they were than everyone else when they curb stomped OU.

My problem with Auburn that year is that they could have made a better case by throttling Va Tech like USC did OU.
Instead Auburn just scraped by. If Auburn had beaten the hell out of Va Tech and USC barely beaten OU... then heck yeah... Auburn has a great case.
OTOH, As an OU fan I certainly don't have a problem with Auburn fans claiming they should have been in the game with USC after the fact.
But Auburn fans automatically assuming they would have beaten USC and been national champs... that is where not beating Va Tech bad comes in.

You just can't win a championship when you are on probation for cheating. And, for the record, Michigan's should be stripped for being caught cheating a couple of years ago.

2004 is the real travesty and the one Auburn fans should be most upset about. I was mad about the snub you were given.
