It should have been a first down if was in a different conference.
If it wasn't for the facemask, Calcagni would have scored a TD.
The game should have ended with a 13-13 tie.
This was by the worst and it really showed how corrupt the SWC was. We didn't just hate Texas, we hated the entire conference.

Oklahoma was banned from post-season play, and the polls counted bowl games so they shouldn't have won it. Michigan's claim would be better as they were not banned from a bowl but rather the bowl tie-in prevented them from getting an invite.

Maybe, but the Missouri loss to start the year is probably one of the biggest head scratchers of Bryant's career. I don't fault that game hanging around the team's neck like an albatross.

'66 and '77 would have been involved in 3'peats as well.
1977 is more egregious than 45, despite 45 being the undefeated team.
Army played a murderer's row and destroyed them.
1977 Alabama had 1 loss to start the season, played a common opponent with the team that got the nod, and beat that common opponent while Notre Dame lost to them.

Truth, and I get great joy from victories over our old SWC foes, but those Texas wins just hit different.

I don't know about that. Oklahoma was loaded and only had three close games all year.
Auburn would give them a game but Oklahoma would still win.
