Seems like they should scholarship more sports with such windfalls .

Instead I am sure it will be spent wisely on finding out new ways to extract more money from fans and alumni

Where does that money go? Cause ticket prices just keep increasing, and emails asking for money never stop. Coaches complain about needing NIL, but this conference is operating in the billion-dollar category. Universities are letting corporations put their logos on uniforms and stadiums now, so where is this money actually going cause the fans are paying now more than ever

All of the "Sankey screwed us" comments on here in the last year, what were those supposed to be all about?

this is never ending. I guess now that the athletes get paid, extracting from the fans is going to get worse.

They already are, under the terms of the House settlement. No more partial scholarship. You are allowed to provide a full ride for your full roster in all sports. Not everyone is taking full advantage of that yet, but some schools are.

Considering the schools have to rev share with athletes, I’m sure most will go there.

Well every conference saw pay increases acc big big 12. It was largely based on pre sankey sec having the largest payouts in college sports, sankey came in added two juggernauts in ou and Tex, then fell behind the big ten in rev distribution. He’s put all the sec eggs in the espn basket(move that came back to bite the acc). Hes the sec version of Les miles or larry Coker. Born in fitst place, so why’s he second now? The sec could be second without turning into the new big 12. But here we are. His job isn’t to be good it’s to be the best. I think that’s what most were referring to.

Title IX is still in play and just being allowed to does not mean required to do full scholarships. Partial is still a thing for many sports for schools that did opt-in. Schools that opt-in actually have to reduce roster size in those sports.

All we've heard for damn near 5 yrs is, "this is unsustainable" yet revenue is higher than this conference has ever experienced. Coaching salaries are higher than ever, facilities are top of the line, NIL "war chests" are flush, etc.

Yes, but only a handful of people are “sustaining” most of it while the rest of us enjoy it. I really don’t see donors doing this stuff year in and year out or even every few years. It’s fun for them for a bit but surely their attention will be pulled in other directions eventually.

It goes to flying all the non rev sport teams all over the country and providing for them.
