The ref made a motion to kill the play. End of story.

Yes he did, after the Memphis player was off to the races… no state player was catching him at that point

No, it should have been called. But State fans crying about losing to Memphis because of a penalty like that, that doesn’t actually affect the play on the field not being called in a game they were already losing is pathetic

Okay now we are talking. MSU did not lose the game because of that play. If they are blaming that play for losing they are off base for sure. They lost for a bunch of other reasons.

“But muh, the ball was still moving when he downed it” gtfo. You are speculating there. It’s a breach of protocol and a complete frickup by a crew with a history of frickups. Ok mr master of technical interpretation, the play should have never happened because two teammates are participating on the same play with the same number. That’s a 5 yard penalty and a Mississippi state first down. Any way you slice it, it’s a complete frickup by this crew, but by all means, continue to shill for refs that the sec has already admitted fault in multiple areas.

I’m not speculating bro, there is this thing called replay, and it’s on page 2. The ball is clearly still rolling after the state player “downed” it. Which is why Leach came out and said the players are supposed pickup the ball abs hand it to the ref.

I guess I should know already that you didn’t watch the replay, because you came into the argument saying the ref waived his arms before the Memphis player grabbed the ball which is clearly wrong

Oh really, now I 100% know you didn’t look at a replay. It was 4th and 6…

I’m not sure you understand the definition of clearly. Knee down hand pinning the ball to the turf. You act like it was still rolling around activity and I’m calling you intentionally obtuse.

Do you agree that state should have gotten a penalty because Memphis had illegal participation and thus the refs screwed up? Careful, it’s a retard test.

Why let Memphis State College hang around to the point of losing on one bad call. That is what we learned years ago.

You’ve lost to Memphis 2/4 last times you’ve played them. Stfu

You obviously just want to argue with people or have a strong anger towards State, because you are wrong here.

The ref also threw his bean bag. While waving his hands over his head.

All officials carry a bean bag to mark the spot of a fumble or the spot where possession was gained on a punt.

I don’t know how much clearer it can get… there is HD video. The state player touches it for less than a second and the laces roll over after.

And I agree about the penalty, but it was 4th and 6. You said that 5 yard penalty would have given them a first down

So you agree that the play should have been called back because Memphis was participating illegally?

So why the frick are you arguing in defense of a play you admit never should have been allowed to happen?

This is the worst officiating I’ve seen in one day. 3rd downs are being called 4th downs. Dead balls are being returned for touchdowns. Ineligible players are on the field. How could the SEC look at the calls today and not think that we’re in an officiating crisis?

And don’t forget about the damn targeting BS !

First of all, if this was two SEC teams, central office would never have made this statement at all.

Second, If I'm understanding this correctly, the SEC and MSU fans are upset that Memphis didn't get screwed by a ref incorrectly stopping the play.
