Nick won on stockpiling NFL talent, not pure chess-moves coaching. When he couldn't have a team of 5 stars, he wasn't going to be as successful. Saban was a great recruiter and organizer but he would have never been successful with less talent.

Worst. Cope. Post. Ever.

Whatever you want to chalk it up to, he's the most successful college football coach in history. No fanbase anywhere would trade that for a "pure chess moves" coach who gets his arse handed to him by a stockpile of NFL talent.

Because it has to be
Ohio State's three most popular and successful coaches of all time. ....

One was a raving madman who publicly punched opposing players in the face on national TV.

The other two cheated so blatantly that Jim Harbaugh looks like a choir boy by comparison.

And no Buckeye fan ever blinked an eye. So spare us, please.

Right. He went to a better program.

He's really an LSU fan that thinks having a Jayhawks logo gives him the appearance of objectivity.

re: Them Auburn

Regardless of this game's outcome, Auburn has always been, will always be, pretenders. They are overrated. Bruce Pearl is overrated. They will not make the final four.
Pitino has a losing record to Calipari. Also has a losing record to Nolan Richardson, whose style he copied.
Give Nolan the advantage of starting his career at a Big East school at age 30, he's another John Wooden.

And keeping your personal life from becoming a complete mess is part of being a good coach. Pitino's women troubles (as you put it, like it was something that just happened to him) are intrinsically part of his record.
That helmet doesn't match any of the jerseys they wear. They quite literally have the goofiest looking unis in college football.

I forgot they have a retarded head coach.

Ole Miss will win by 28+

When focused, they're the best team in the SEC, and they look focused.
And the ACC is pathetic.
Texas is the fifth best team in the conference. They only had to play one of the top four, and lost. Then they get both of the the two weakest teams in the playoffs, and now they get their first game against a real team at home.

But they will lose that one. Probably convincingly.

Ole Miss is the best team in the SEC
The thing that should embarrass you, you're bragging about.
Because you're right. Ole Miss is the most talented team, probably in the country. But they're not in the playoffs because they choked away two games to weak teams.
I know y'all love Kiffin, but he's never going to be mature enough or run a disciplined enough program to be a real title contender. He couldn't even do it with the best roster in the nation. This year was y'alls best chance and he blew it.
Texas got the easiest draw in the entire playoffs. So easy, it's hard not the think it was set up for them, just like the SEC set them up to make the playoffs.
They get matched up with the weakest conference champion in the first round, and then plays the second weakest team in the tournament.
And now, against the first Top 40 team they'll have to play, they get a home game.
Texas got an easier draw than Georgia
Literally 2/3 of the teams in the SEC would beat both teams y'all got to play in the playoffs.

Who gets in though?
Bama got trucked by 6-6 OU.
Rebs lost at home to 4-8 UK.
SCar lost to both Bama and Rebs.

Those are all SEC losses to teams that could win the ACC.
But to answer specifically, I would have chosen Ole Miss by virtue of them dominating Georgia and SC.
But any of the three are miles better than SMU.
3-loss SEC>2-loss ACC. All day long.

Alabama was awarded the National Championship on Nov 30, 1964.

Alabama played Texas on Jan 1, 1965. Over a full month AFTER they were awarded the national championship.

You are counting exhibition games.
1964 Bama would've been 3rd at best in SWC.
Arkansas 12-0, with win over 11-1 Texas.
Bama, 11-1 with loss to Texas.

But like you said, there was someone who "awarded" them a title-in-name-only" before the season was complete.
