Picking the two best conference records when each team only plays 50% of the conference is so buttfricking retarded

Will there be an SEC Championship game, and if so, why? 14 teams, you only play 8 of them. How can you possibly pick the top 2 teams every year?

Divisions were in theory random too, and one was more too heavy than the other. So let’s not act like they were equal either.

At least every team in the division, fighting for the invite to Atlanta, plays each other
Now, it’s completely inequitable and a clusterfrick picking two teams out of 16. It can never be perfect, but this is about the worst way I have ever seen pick members to play in a conference championship.

But the playoffs also go to 12 teams. So whomever gets left out of the Conference Championship still goes to the playoffs at a lower seed, but I get what you’re saying.

Time to revoke Texas and OU invites

The single-standings format will allow every school to play every other school a minimum of two times in a four-year period, regardless of whether the SEC utilizes an 8-game or 9-game format for future Conference competition.
So dumb. Giving up rivalries so LSU can play Kentucky and Mizzou as often as they play Alabama.

Greed is well on its way to killing what made this sport great.

The division format didn’t always pick the best 2 teams. The east was down for several years after UF’s Urban Meyer years

That means the next year they’d get:

That’s brutal

How is it determine?
Scenario… who goes
UGA 12-0
Bama 10-2
Oklahoma 10-2
Kentucky 10-2
Those teams didn’t play each other Or say they went 1-1 against each other.

That’s a fricking gauntlet. Not sure any team would survive that. There’s no real let down.

My guess is they schedule games like GA-Auburn and Bama-TN for 2024 hoping ESPN ponies up for 9 games by the 2025 season.
