You are clearly interested in the idea that people can change their minds and their opinion of someone. You should explore your fellow LSU fans. Their opinion of Nick Saban changed drastically in just a few years. It went from love, even idolatry in some causes, to outright hate. LSU fans went as far as burning him in effigy at a pep rally. One stupid, drunk fan tried to fight him. The change was drastic. And very entertaining. You should look into it.

Weird deflection. Are you saying you're basically the same as those people?

Are you saying most LSU fans are like me?

It was your comparison, not mine.
At any rate, I think most people do change their opinions. I personally have changed mine many times. Most people do not suddenly have a lower opinion of a head coach when he's at an even higher peak of his career, as you did with Kiffin.
But I get it, LSU could hire Kirby and you'd have to find a way to trash it. Your LSU complex doesn't allow for anything else. We all know you'd have talked copious amounts of shite had Kiffin not made the move, you were already hedging your bets before an announcement was made.

You have never experienced this so you may not be able to understand, but rational or not most people have a much lower opinion of their ex after the breakup or divorce than during the relationship.
And I am not alone in my opinion of Kiffin.
Most of the sports world has a much lower opinion of him now than they did before seeing how he broke up with his Ole Miss team.
And it isn’t just an LSU thing. I loved Coach O. Sure he was a buffoon, but I think he genuinely loved his team and his players. With Kiffin every decision is a business decision based on what Lane Kiffin believes is best for Lane Kiffin, everyone else be damned.

I understand Ole Miss being pissed, a supposed Alabama fan being pissed is a bit weird but okay.

Welcome to coaching in 2026. Alabama had to give its 4 loss a year head coach a raise and extension so he wouldn't bolt from the supposed GOAT college football program.

You certainly did about Brian Kelly. Remember that? You would have taken a bullet for him. You spent years defending here with every ounce of your being. And then just like that you turned on him and hopped on the Lane Train.

1. Kirby
2. Sark
the rest..do not know. Pretty sure Lane is good despite never winning a conference title at very prestigious jobs(USC and Tenn). It was probably a ton to do woth his age and learning the ropes still. But he did win 2 AAC titles at FAU to be fair. He was very, very young as HC at Tenn. fricking 33...insane.

Hyperbole aside, I said he was a good coach, I still think he's a good coach, and would've been okay if it were 2010. I think he never really adapted to Louisiana and NIL/the portal. His aloof CEO style didn't work in this era.
As I said, it's understandable to change an opinion of someone when it's clear the environment has changed, and they're no longer a factor. It's a lot more uncommon to change an opinion negatively when the coach is performing better, just because he took a job you didn't like. It's a bias that is understandable from Ole Miss fans, it looks rather pathetic on a supposed Alabama fan, however.

Brian Kelly is a very good coach. Just did not fit in at LSU at all. Did out west. He def needs to go back to Oregon or a California school.

Careful. If you say that on this board it means you'd "take a bullet for him", or you're "defending him with every ounce of your being".
ETA- I think you're thinking of Chip

Are you thinking about Chip Kelly?
Brian Kelly was head coach at Grand Valley State (Michigan), Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and LSU.

Eat shite, Reek.
DePoor isn’t even a Top 5 coach.
And no, Lane Kiffin wants nothing to do with the absolute shitshow of a nosedive that is Alabumma

DeBoer and Sarkisian should be #2 and #3 based on the last 4 years of their coaching.

No coach that gets arse blasted by 35 points should be in the Top 5.
DePoor is a joke.

DeBoer has multiple power conference championship game appearances the past 4 seasons and a power conference championship. 2 playoff appearances and a national championship game appearance. He has three 11+ win seasons the past four years.
Sarkisian with 2 final fours in the past 3 seasons is the only possible argument for DeBoer not being #2 behind Smart.

I think most in CFB loved Coach O...one of the characters ever and always felt like he was honest.
